Side Scrollers:
Salt & Sacrifice (has more emphasis on Coop)
3rd person:
Ashen
Hellpoint
Nioh 2
These are just off the top of my head.
If you want other games that are similar to GRIME, you can also check out:
Ori and the Blind Forest
Ori and the Will of the Wisps
Dust: An Elysian Tail
ENDER LILIES: Quietus of the Knights (especially recommended)
Dead Cells (more on the roguelike side)
Blasphemous
Salt and Sanctuary (2D Dark Souls, basically)
If you want soulslikes, these are what I can recommend:
Nioh 1 and 2 (samurai/Japanese)
CODE VEIN (anime/fanservice)
Any Dark Souls game you didn't play yet
Elden Ring (it's actually great, if you can afford it...)
Hellpoint (a bit janky and stiff, but still an interesting experience. Usually tedious though)
Remnant: From The Ashes (Dark Souls with guns and random level generation)
Asterigos: Curse Of The Stars
Thymesia
Mortal Shell (has some unique mechanics)
Kena: Bridge Of Spirits (not exactly qualifies as a Soulslike in my opinion, but pretty close. Also, cute characters and fun gameplay)
The Surge 1 and 2 (post-apocalyptic tech-oriented soulslike)
Lords Of The Fallen (Dark Souls, but a bit worse. Second game is still being developed iirc)
Also, it's rather unrelated to the main topic but I'm having an absolute blast with GRIME and my only personal complaint would be the lack of sound effects (or rather, the lack of impact in some of them) in some situations. It's barely noticable, so not a big deal. Hands down one of my favorites of all time. Really close to a masterpiece in my opinion. I even made sure to recommend it to a few friends. Keep up the good work and great job! I'm excited to see more!
Sure, I'm more than happy to hopefully help others find great games. :)
I know for sure you can play Nioh 2 in coop from start fairly easily, but I don't recall for sure if it's the same in 1, so you should probably check it before buying just in case.
To quote that other guy, but in a more honest opinion towards purely coop -> the only good coop ones are Nioh, Code Vein, Ashen, Hellpoint, Remnant 1&2, and Lords of the Fallen. EVERY single other Souls/Souls-like game is either buggy and/or broken as all hell OR has the worst coop experience imaginable. Most games created by FromSoft in specific actively make it frustrating to play coop by either 1. Making coop a limited resource (need an item that comes from forced pvp matches, is limited to only 30 or so found in-game, or needs you to play a large portion of the game before it can be obtained) 2. Has insanely long matchmaking times even while using a password so that you can't possibly find anyone besides the 1 other person with said password. 3. Constantly boots players from eachothers games by poor performance issues, disconnects, or simply whenever 1 of the two players die (these deaths still take away 1 of your very few in number limited resource items that are used to summon others as these are consumed when sending out the signal to start matchmaking even if matchmaking fails.)
