I have the one with the twins but barely played like a hour of it. Should I purchase this game? I have a complex completing the games before trying the new ones but I haven't even beat one lol

Well its pretty much meant as a beginner Atelier game, new engine, new battle system, simpler alchemy system, no time limit and so on.
Also the begin of a new trilogy while the one with the twins is the second one in the Mysterious Trilogy.

So yes, if you have interest in playing it its a good starting point for the franchise overall.

It feels a bit different than the other Atelier games but its still fun and enjoyable

Small correct, but the one with the twins (Lydie & Suelle) is actually the third (and final) one.

Yes, it has by far the best alchemy system very newbie friendly, faster paced combat and less cutesy story.

Its very accessible for a new player but still has depth and most of makes Atelier games.
(except lack of cutesy character designs/story)

Its also the most modern looking games in terms of graphics, so I'd say this is the best game to start with.

or if you want the total end of the spectrum the Arland games are available :3

if you have your PSP or PS2 you can also grab the spin off titles Mana Khemia, Ar Tonelico 1 not yet for 2 unless the retranslation is complete because NISA ♥♥♥♥♥♥ that up so badly which are basically Atelier Ryze (more JRPG than Atelier but ehh)

As it doesnt have the atrocious time limit from previous games, i'd say its actually a great game to start off with.

i started with sophie. from the mysterious series. since that one is
pretty newbie friendly if you aint used to this kind of combat system. then firis. which kind of started with a fairly leiant timeline. then lydie and suelle which was.. more.. well.. face desk kind of time restriction.. on the lines of regret. if you aiming for the perfect ending

does sophie have a time limit? looking to buy similar atelier games, but i hate time limits, unless its xcom.

Sophie doesnt have a time limit. Firis has one, but its more like ''a year to get ready fo an exam, and then after the exam you can do whatever for as long as you like''.

I can practically hear Central shouting in my ear to hurry up.

Currently the games on Steam without ANY time limit are Sophie, Lydie/Suelle and Ryza.
When Dusk comes out, it'll be Shallie. Escha/Logy has one that is so lenient it shouldn't exist lol.

Check out this review cause I think this one exactly reflects my thoughts! Story and Battle, without doubt, I think this title is a top-rank atelier game for the adventurers XD

Yep, Sophie, then Firis as the first two

@Ares Like others said it is a different system then the rest. It is meant to bring in people to the series I think as its easier, even the combat. The combat even on normal on the others, was more like hard. I say yes to being a good one start with.
