What controversy?

Everyone's saying that the Devs are fighting censorship. Who is censoring this game? Woke liberals on Twitter with 15 likes? Concerned soccer moms writing soon-to-be-ignored letters to Nintendo? How have they even censored it? The game is already available to play. It's not been removed by anyone but the devs, and that was for bug fixes.

I've heard that there's been review bombing. When? When did this review bombing even occur? I look at the store and it's mostly positive reviews. I saw maybe two negative reviews from the past 2 weeks.

The most concerning part, however, is how many of you are so willing to throw your money at the Devs despite not playing the game for more than half-an-hour. Many reviews even say they do not like the gameplay or intend to play it, yet they still bought it?

I get the feeling that a lot of you are being played for fools, and the sad part is many of you won't even question anything that's happened.

A reddit post said it best, devs made bank on hysterical folks who are easy to part with their money. This applies especially to reactionary right-wing nutjobs. Just see how the orange man siphoned off easy millions by stirring up the faux election fraud.

The censorship was most likely pushed by an anti-porn conservative group. The dev slyly twisted it into a general censorship issue because there is a large bandwagon of easy money who just presume it is about the culture war against the left. Guess what? Devs played the right cards.

Now legions of reactionary trolls are providing free advertising for this game. TBH, I never even heard about this game until it became a "cultural war" thing for the trolls.

You pretend like this isn't the first time that a Twitter mob has dogpiled on a company or developer for the slightest infraction against their dogma.
What makes this time unique is instead of backing down and apologizing, the developer stood their ground and not only told them to shove off, but brought receipts on all the death threats and harassment they've been getting.

I've seen plenty of double-standards hurled at games with anime-styled visuals.
Heck, if you go as far as the 1980s, game developers basically had to scrub basically any Japanese off of their games if they localized them outside of Japan.

Also consider this:

A small time publisher with a small following put out a trailer for a port of a game.
They were surprised that the only ones giving feedback at the time were people that actively hated the game for its visual style and "I heard this on the internet" claims.

Sure, the hater were probably a small group overall, but look at it from the perspective of a small publisher (one who seems to rely on Kickstarter to get their games to happen).

Also...just look at the forums here: People were complaining already when the Steam version happened, so this isnt suspiciously out of nowhere.

Religious conservativism is at the front and center of modern conservatism. Heck, the orange man chopped off every other parts of Reagan conservatism, except extreme religiosity. Both defence and fiscal conservatism got hit under the new right wing movement. It seems like you lived under a rock to say bible belters somehow wirthered away. On the contrary, they are the major faction and driver of the reactionary right. Evangelical politics is alive and kicking.

Sure guy. Trump hung a rainbow flag at every rally in 2016 and openly announced that Kaitlyn Jenner could use whatever bathroom she wanted in his properties and told conservatives, on Fox news, that gay marriage was a done deal and to stop whining about it, and THAT'S Bible-thumping. It's amazing you say this because Republican insiders were all laughing at how Trump was going to crash and burn for NOT catering to the evangelical crowd. Trump spent the 90's with scantily-clad Playboy bunnies on his arms. The only thing Trump supported that was the same as the religious right was being against abortion, although he never really DID much, he just gave some speeches.

Meanwhile, the left has become increasingly against porn, modeling, etc, as "exploitation of women", an idea feminists first came up with back in the 60's before Bible-thumpers co-opted it in the 80's. Prostitution, in some left-wing European countries, is more underground than it was 20 years ago. What just happened to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ was due to both left and right wing activists, and indeed, protection for porn sites has been eroded due to Progressive pressure.

All that said, I don't really see the big controversy; we've rolled our eyes at left-wingers pointing to "slurs" and "death threats" for years, especially during GG, and I see no reason to suddenly act like stupid death threats from edgy teenagers on Twitter should be any more important here.
