Paralives

Slow the clock down, please!
I don't know if the developers read these discussions but if they do...one thing that's always bugged me about the main competitor -- the Sims --- is that...I can have my Sim wake up, use the toilet, and go get some eggs. And it will take that Sim like an hour to do that. They'll no more sit down to eat and -oop here's the carpool!-
Those things that only take a few minutes -should- just take a few minutes.

I don't know if Paralives could fix this or if this is something they've already taken into account, but it'd be really nice. They're already trumping the Sims in every other field.

Hello! We have yet to decide how long each day will take in Paralives. It's something that we'll work out mostly when testing and working on balancing the game so I can't give you an answer for now. You do have a point, activities should take a realistic amount of time to perform, and that's what we should keep in mind when working on time flow.

This. Feels like my sim would get home, cook, eat dinner, use the toilet, wash dishes, take a bath and suddenly it is 1 o clock in the morning.
While making the time overly realistic would probably turn the game somewhat boring, I'd still like to see some balance in the time system.

First thing I always did with the Sims3 was download the slow time mod so yea, another request for at least an optional slower time button (not 1 to 1 or anything) but yea, longer days / night cycles would be appreciated.

I would like a 1:1 - but also have numerous fast-forward options to speed things up when you don't need to micromanage.

i havent played any sims game in years but i did notice that if you sped the game up to max, it would actually take longer for them to move between tasks, making it take longer 'in game time' compared to if you just left it at normal speed

Can there not be a settings option to decrease/increase day and night cycle time? I know in the sims there is an option to change how long seasons last. Can't this be done for the hours? Speed of everything that happens stays the same, just the clock ticks at a different rate. I fully agree the time goes way too fast in the sims.

i often feel like all i'm doing is eat>toilet>shower>work and repeat. i hardly ever go out of the house or enjoy some entertainment activities because there is no time left.

In the Sims 3 there's a mod that makes time pass slower during certain periods. For instance from 8 am to 12 pm where your sim is active you can make that the clock is twice as slower. It makes that when you are taking your shower you go from 30 minutes to 15 minutes.
During sleep hours, since you don't want to wait doing nothing the time scale goes back to normal.
This is a solution but they could also try to make actions take a realistic amount of time and give access to a real super speed mode (not the x3 from the sims 3).

on ts3 and ts4 there are mods, NRAAS and MCCC, in those i can slow down time, for every two minutes in game is a second out in the real world. so the days go a lot slower and i can enjoy playing those games.

If Paralives had a fast day time, i'll be looking for a way to slow it down undoubtedly.

I think the best way to do this would be an adaptive timer. The issue the sims runs into is that the animations tend to take more time than the activity should. Most people shower in 5-15 minutes, but since there are a series of animations associated with showering and pooping in the sims it ends up taking over an hour, if I want to leave the house after 8 my sims consistently have to wake up before 530.

If you want to retain the same quality and quantity of animations for activities like cooking, then slow the timer down when an activity should be relatively quick and speed it up when it should be a long activity (like gardening, reading, working, etc.). It can be a relatively subtle effect, but saving 15 minutes to half an hour of in game time on that shower animation could end up making a big difference to gameplay quality.

That or just make time slower in the two hours prior to and following work.
The timer thing always bothered me too.

One thing that bothered me the most was it seemed to make it near impossible for a Sim family to actually spend any meaningful family conversation time together after work/school,
It's futile to even attempt to try and hold a dinner party.

You can make sims have conversations at dinner but it's useless when eating goes by so quick and by the time they've all sat down with their plate one by one, the first sim to sit (usually the cook) has finished eating, shoved that ONE single plate into the dishwasher and then buggered off to go look at the nearest computer, while the second Sim is already off to take the plate to the bathroom three flights up to wash the plate in the vanity sink...

And I agree with the toilet issue too. they're in there for like an hour. Despite all the salad and fruit they eat regularly, constipation seems to be rife in the sims world,,,Maybe the devs need to introduce prunes or ex-lax.

Absolutely agree on this right here! Wake up, toilet/shower, eat, go to work/school. Get home eat, toilet again most likely, do homework/skill to promote and sleep.
No time for family or fun.
It takes SO long to do anything simple, especially if they get caught or stuck in a still loop.
