Stable - Windows 10 - xaudio issue
Environment information
Steam version: Regular
OS: Windows 10 Pro (22H2, OS build: 19045.2251)
RetroArch version: Stable
CPU: Intel Core i5-7200U
GPU: AMD Radeon R7 M445
Video/Audio/Input driver: d3d11 - xaudio - dinput

Expected behavior
Audio work all the time.

Actual behavior
Starting game audio is silenced (game audio and RetroAch sound effects)
Doing Fast forward (start and stop) or Pause/Un-Pause multiple times - audio starts working, but after some time audio becomes silence again.
Doing Fast forward (start and stop) or Pause/Un-Pause multiple times - audio stays silent, but some times "cracking" sound effects is heard.

Steps to reproduce the bug
Just run any Dreamcast game (in my case "Resident Evil 2 (USA)") on Flycast core.
If audio is working, press Fast Forward or Pause hotkey multiple times untill audio stops working.

Troubleshooting Steps / Actions Taken
Pressing Fast Forward or Pause hotkey multiple times audio starts working temporary. After some minutes of playing - audio becomes silent again.

PLEASE!!! Take a look at this :) other audio drivers have issues (working with "cracking" sounds) for RE2, but xaudio have perfect sound - but don't work all the time.

Has this behavior been specific to either xaudio or Flycast, or the combination of both?

Tested some other systems cores with xaudio plugin. Yep.. looks like problem is same!

Small notices:
"Mute When Fast-Forwarding [OFF]", but fast-forwarding with xaudio - always with no audio.
After stopping fast-forwad sometimes audio resume/sometimes stays with no audio.

Action - Opening quick-menu:
sometimes UI sound effects have no audio
sometimes opening quick-menu sound effects working.

Action - Closing quick-menu:
Sometimes game have audio.
Sometimes no audio in game.

Could be something with emulator, and not with xaudio core itself?!

Can you go to the RetroArch folder and rename your retroarch.cfg temporarily and check if you can reproduce? When it is broken does toggling fullscreen fix the audio?

A developer was unable to reproduce your issue and stated the audio always recovers after a fast forward based on the setup your described.

You could also attempt using the nightly branch for the newest fixes (and bugs!).

Thank you for taking a look! Yes this is something with settings, with new default retroarch.cfg, xaudio now works how intended, no problems (only some cracking sounds.. this is not related).
*Just one small weird thing, no matter "Mute When Fast-Forwarding" [OFF] or [ON] - doing fast forward audio always gets muted.

I can only assume about broken audio problems in RetroArch I had - it was something to do with "mute"/fast-forward/frames or audio sync/latency/other audio settings?!

If this problem could appear for others, or for curiosity what went wrong - there's problematic settings used (just removed accounts info, url's, etc.):
