You have 2 ways to get it:

Manual way:

Easy way:

Copy paste the standalone RA (RetroArch) from their official site over steam's RA and you'll find the core with the O.U. (Online Updater).

For 2D arcade games you can use FinalBurn Neo core. The roms for it can be easily found in google.

The thing with fbn is that it support way less roms than mame plus the last one has many more options for customisation.

The author never mentioned that he needed many fancy options, nor that he needed the support of all possible arcade roms (which are often called mame roms interchangeably). FinalBurn has a huge library of 2D arcade/mame games, and his favourite arcade games might be among them as well. I've been using FinalBurn for a few years. It's easy to use, it runs all my favourite arcade games without issues and has just the right number options for my needs.

It's worth noting that MAME was never intended to be a, "core" and thus RetroArch integrates with FinalBurn NEO better than with MAME. Most arcade games have ROM versions that are specifically meant to be used with FinalBurn NEO. I'm finding that it's best to try using FinalBurn NEO before resorting to a MAME core.

The author never mentioned that he needed FBN. Period. Plus mame has and always been better in terms of everything. Compatibility, easiness, and all the other I've mentioned.

He never mentioned that he needed the mame core. Just mame games. Period. And mame core has never been better. Just more popular among nerds? Perhaps. More customisation options = more bugs, more unnecessary bloat, more time-wasting.

Yes, he did. If you misread or didn't understand his thread it's a different thing.
