RetroArch will not launch

im running the newest version of RetroArch on my 2015 Macbook Air, since the newest update it simply refuses to launch, my mac is on MacOS 12.7.6 Monterey, i installed the nightly version to see if that would run and it did launch but it launched to a blank black screen and didn't allow me to do anything else, absolutely no idea what to do

other details:

believe this mac is running an intel chip instead of the silicon chips modern macs use
