You can add it, just download the core from the official Retroarch and add it to Steam.

Add it into steam retroarch right?

Have you tried it after the recent update? Could you see if it still works right now? Since i read that alot of people have the same issue recently
Lrps2 works good but I have problems where it crashes when I click save state or close content but other then that I have no problems playing ps2 games.

You can follow the guide in Spanish and use the translator; it explains it very well.

In addition to downloading the .inf and .dll files and the BIOS, I've also added the emulator folder inside.
Having literally just tested it right now, I can point out a few findings, which might be flawed.

First, I have all cores updated straight from the libretro site, from a couple months ago. Don't know if that's the latest or not, I haven't checked since then. My bios are also all accounted for, even if it's not needed like the EUR one. Having seen your setup, I have the exact same stuff in its right place, so that's fine. For testing, I have both .cue and .iso files of my games, in case it matters.

I made a new playlist, deleted all configs I've had, both LRPS2, Play!, and PCSX2, and started the LRPS2 core to make a new folder. I tried a .cue file, no dice. Crashed immediately, even tried another and did the same thing, so there might be file type issues. The .iso worked just fine, a few did. You also have to remember that probably not all games are supported whatsoever so I had a crash here and there with isos.

This is correct too, I did notice the core was so much more stable than before, when I tried it a year ago or so. Now I was able to quit content and open another PS2 title (twice before crashing haha) and can even restart content and change settings without much issue.

Could anyone tell me if i did something wrong?
Specifically talking about a black screen though, I don't know what to tell you. I use Vulkan in general, if that matters, only switching to Dx11 for Dolphin, and LRPS2 worked fine for me so I'll assume the video driver works fine. Have you tried deleting the config for the core so it goes back to default? I went in clean and didn't change anything, other than turning off fast boot just to mess around with the BIOS menu.

Yeah that's fine, though I'm not exactly an expert on RetroArch haha, I just spend a lot of time on it.
Choose DX12 or Vulcan video driver. DX11 is known to cause black screen with the new core.

I have a theory about what is causing the ps2 crashes. But i want to test it more to see if that is it before i release my theory. I hope i'm right.

I am pretty interested in what you can figure out. So far, as stated above, the core only crashes on me when trying to open .cue files or when opening specific games, like DOA2 Hardcore for example. It actually runs perfectly fine otherwise, even with high quality shaders on.
