How do I reduce lag when my laptop is unplugged?

I've been experiencing lag when playing GBA games on my laptop. Plugging it into the power supply seems to fix the issue, but is there another way of doing it? Thanks in advance

Seems like your laptop puts your laptop into power saving mode when on battery and when plugged in turns it up to high performance.

Go to windows settings > system > power and sleep > additional power settings and change it to high performance.

Doing this will cause your battery to drain much quicker.
