RetroArch

How to use cheats on PS1 games ?
I use Duckstation or PCSX2 standalone emulators which have the options to download cheats and patches within the emulator itself. Now im using retroarch and swanstation core for PS1 games. The problem is i cannot find a way to use cheats such as 60fps or widescreen even when i copy those cheat files and select in retroarch, it does nothing

First copy standalone ra over steam's and you will be able to do the same. That's what I did and have no issues.

can u elaborate or explain a little ? I don't understand what u mean ? My games are working fine and everything. Its just i cannot find a way to use cheats
Well the ps1 cores use .cht files. If the files you want to use are .cht files then they will not work as cheats. Can i ask you what file format are the 60fps "cheat".

Swanstation already has a widescreen hack in the core settings after you run the game hit f1 and go to core settings then to enhancement settings and scroll to the bottom and look for wide screen hack.

The way I do it is:
(Ingame)F1 Main Menu:point_right:Quick Menu:point_right:Cheats:point_right:Load Cheat:point_right:Sony-Playstation:point_right:YOUR GAME:point_right:and pick the cheat you want.

I managed to make cheats work, just used non steam retroarch, updated cheats folder and copied it to steam version but that 60fps cheat is nowhere to be found. I think in duckstation all patches and cheats are in cht format. That 60fps cheat is what i need to make work in swanstation core of retroarch. Yes i found the widescreen enhancement.

Doing what I've said on my first message would have let you do that with the steam version.

Btw making a game work at 60fps is not a "cheat". Did you try beetle psx hw? I think it's more stable than swanstation.

well with Beetle psx u don't get features like wobbling fix and all that. In Duckstation that 60fps shows under cheats menu for silent hill 1.

Those are NOT cheats. Cheats are:
Being invincible-Infinite Life-Infinite Continues, Skip or Choose a level, etc.
You were always looking for something completely different than cheats then.
Well dunno but my games are on 60fps.
Maybe if your game is pal on 50fps?
You can try fixes on:
F1 Main Menu:point_right:Quick Menu:point_right:Core Options

Never mind i found a way, using Duckstation u can edit the cheats and there is cheat code inside, u just have to paste these code in retroarch cheat file which is in appropriate game folder by opening it with notepad. Figured it out myself. Anyways thanks

Yeah. I didn't notice earlier on his reply. I've literlally said beetle psx HW, not plain beetle psx.

lol oops. Well either way, they can use Gamedhacking.org and simply make a custom list of the cheats they want to use and download it in Librertro form. Ill DM you some screenshots.

To answer your and the OP's question, some PSX games are simply capped to 25/30 FPS. What's happeniong is the emulator is rendering the game at 50/60Hz..so if you have Vsync on that will be detected as 50/60FPS. The game's framerate is not really detected.

The other possibility is that if you have custom settings for RA in NVCP, all you need to do is restore the settings for RA's profile to their defaults. I had to do that after a recent driver and Vulkan runtime update.

Well no Beetle needed, i found a way of using 60fps cheats myself in retroarch swanstation. Just had to copy codes from duckstation standalone emulator from cheat menu & paste those codes in cht files in proper way the retroarch reads. Now im playing silent hill 1 at 60fps in swanstation retroarch
