Struggling with N64 Rom hacks
So... my preferred use for an emulator is for playing Rom hacks, unfortunately, I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to RetroArch's settings. So I'm having issues everywhere.

I tried playing Super Mario Star Road, only for the sound to play and nothing to display on screen, I later learned this was due to the hack being old and incompatible with Mupen64's default plugins. No idea how to fix that.

I tried Super Mario 64 Last impact, and I got the title screen with no sound, then the whole thing crashed.

Super Mario 64 Land worked, but I found myself dealing with framerate drops when there was too much happening on screen. (Is that normal?)

I tried The Legend of Zelda the missing link, and it worked... until I went into a house and the whole thing crashed.
So I downloaded the latest version of the hack, but that just crashed immediately.

Does anyone have any advice for fixing these problems?

I had the exactly same problem with The Missing Link! It seemed to run ok at first but then crashes when entering a house.

No idea what's going on. I mean, I can run all those mentioned Roms on Project 64, (with the exception of SM64 land which runs with no sound) but I'm trying to move away from that as I'm tired of that clingy popup asking for support every time I open the emulator.

Yeah man. I have the same problem with star road. I honestly wish that there was a guide to help with rom hacks like this.
