RetroArch

Folders hidden?
So I've been using retroarch on my steam deck for a while and it was working pretty great, no real issues.

But I boot it up today and now none of my games will launch, I check in desktop mode and the games work fine in standalone emulators.

I try to import my games back into retroarch, but now the folder containing all my roms is just not showing up for some reason, this is beyond frustrating and I really hope someone knows how to fix this

Probably your playlists got reseted for some reason.
Try settings :red_pointer: playlists :red_pointer: manage playlists :red_pointer: and check if the system you are asking for has an associated core.
Also on main menu go down till you find the icon of your system and see if the games are imported there.

when I use the retroarch file browser the folder containing all of my roms just isn't there. The only thing that appears there is the steamapps folder

I'm not sure, I didn't use RetroArch last weeks, and today I saw that it doesn't see my drives again despite I have that "mount" file. Try regular non-Steam RetroArch for now, it should work fine.

Yup flatpak retroarch does not have this issue, too bad it doesn't have my cloud saves or my settings and I have to set up everything again, this sucks man

I'm having the same issue --> Retroarch only let me browse in the folder path where Retroarch is installed (the other folders are not shown), and my Roms are in an other Folder, so it's not possible to load my roms.
Even adding a Symlink to my Roms directory inside Retroarch directory is not working. :(
As commented before, that worked just fine last weeks, but after last update (today) is not working any more.

My System:
Ubuntu 22.04.1
Retroarch 1.10.3

As mentioned earlier, related to this issue:
https://steamcommunity.com/app/1118310/discussions/0/2954915322318464689/

Hope we can get a fix soon.

Edit: for Steam Deck users the work around is here: https://github.com/libretro/RetroArch/issues/14297

Edit2: For desktop and Steam Deck users do this launch option:
STEAM_COMPAT_MOUNTS=/run/media:/media:/mnt:/home:/opt:/srv %command%

I didn't try the second updated command you posted, but the first link you posted has a command that seems to have fixed it for me

STEAM_COMPAT_MOUNTS=/run/media/mmcblk0p1/ %command%

OK now cloud saves aren't working either, is any of this stuff related to that?
Nothor Aug 19, 2022 @ 11:48pm
In my case (desktop user with ubuntu 22.04.1 with Steam Beta) this solution mentioned by CyderChillin worked without issues with Cloud Save.
STEAM_COMPAT_MOUNTS=/run/media:/media:/mnt:/home:/opt:/srv %command%

Other than the different folder structure, this command looks very similar to the one I used, is it actually different?

It depends on where are your drives mounted. I suppose /run/media/mmcblk0p1/ is the Steam Deck's SD card. My drives with ROMs are neither of above, so I wrote their paths there separated with ":".

UPDATE: I FIXED THE CLOUD SAVES !!!

I checked the directory settings and discovered that it was loading from the flatpak version of RA saves directory that I installed while I couldn't get the steam version to look at my ROM folders.

The cloud saves were actually working fine the whole time, it just wasn't looking at them for some reason
