Having Some problems
Hi everyone i am having some couple of problems with retroarch, the first problem is the boxart for the games for exemple i trying to add a boxart for "shadow hearts convenant" with no luck now i have no idea why it does that it ether that the boxart does not exist or i need to rename the file, Note i had a lot of luck on adding boxart on other roms i have but this one is giving me a trouble.

My second Problem i am having is i am trying to add more roms on retroarch for exemple again i added Super mario rpg, mario all star, paper mario, the legend of zelda: ocarina of time, Parasite eve disc 1, and Shadow hearts: Convenant now i manage to add them to retro arch however i had parasite eve disc 2 and megaman legend but they were not added on the list for some reason what did i do wrong ????

Were the roms compressed? If so, they'll need to be extracted before RA will "see" them.

Cover art for Shadow Hearts: Covenant sadly doesn't exist on the thumbnail database for RetroArch for PS2 games at the moment. I've looked through the Github and it's not there.

Try deleting your playlist within RetroArch's user-interface (Settings → Playlists → Manage Playlists → select the playlists that are potentially causing the issue), then reboot RetroArch and re-scan your games. If you delete the playlist files from your system's File Explorer, Steam Cloud will just restore the old playlists and replace the new ones upon start-up. It's also important to keep your games organized as well.

Would that apply to *.zip files? I have compressed *.chd files of PS1 games I'm playing to save space on the hard drive and some *.m3u sheets for multi-disc PS1 games reading off those *.chd files and RetroArch was able to see them with the cores I have installed.

@AmethystViper: Not sure, I'd compressed my files years ago with 7-Zip (.7z files) and RA won't load out of those (but other standalone emulators will). I'll try recompressing into the .zip format and test later.

edit: Okay, .zip works...and suddenly .7z works now too. RAR files won't even show up in the browsing list though. The issue I was having with my .7z files must have been user-error, but I'm having a hard time seeing how I could have screwed up something so simple multiple times. Ce'st le vie.

Note: These instructions are for the non-Steam version of RetroArch, but you can import the playlists and thumbnail files into the Steam version.
1. Create a playlist of the games for the system they're originally from by scanning your ROMs folder.
2. Download the cover art for the game that is missing the cover art (e.g. Shadow Hearts: Covenant).
3. Look through your ROMs folder, find the game you want to give a cover art for that lacks one, and copy the file name of the ROM in question (e.g. "Shadow Hearts: Covenant (USA)")
4. Rename the cover art that you downloaded with the same name as the game (DO NOT change the extension!). Example: "shadow-heart-covenant.png" needs to be named "Shadow Hearts: Covenant (USA).png".
5. Go to your RetroArch folder, go to thumbnails<Company - System playlist folder>Named_Boxarts folder, then move the new cover art file to this folder.
6. Launch RetroArch, look through your playlist for the system that it's from (e.g. Sony - PlayStation 2) and you should see the cover art appear on your RetroArch GUI.

Close RetroArch then re-launch it from Steam or the executable. I don't think I had to explain how to reboot a program. As for keeping your games organized, I mean put them in a folder for the system they were originally from. Here are a few examples of how I sorted my games by system using the same naming convention as RetroPie's ROMs folder and the contents of each console folder:

SNES ROMs: https://i.imgur.com/PnyZo3n.png
PS1 ROMs: https://i.imgur.com/jSHiR5G.png
