What is the gamecube core named?
Im new to all this emulation stuff, really trying to play Metroid, please help!

None available in the Steam release.

Gotta get one of the standalone versions.

Dolphin works not only for GC but also for Wii too.
"Dolphin" is what you're looking for, but like someone pointed out above, it's not on Steam yet. Get the Standalone version of Retroarch or individual emulator while you wait, the name is the same.
what a joke. there's almost no reason to even use the steam version.

Exactly. It's quite outdated in comparison, same happens with other cores such as lpssx2.
like I said in other posts you dont want to use retro ach for 2dgames past the ps1 and n64 gen, you should use the stand alone versions, even if you are using the stand alone version of retro arch. also think the steam version is missing cores due to not being able to work out the rights to put it in the steam version
I see this was necro'd a couple of days ago and I guess I failed to properly help out last time. Don't get me wrong, the Standalone Dolphin is still the way to go, but to anyone that stumbles on this post and really really REALLY wants to get it working on Retroarch I can redirect you to another post.

i thought its never going on steam anymore
