Button "L" for PPSSPP can't be hold

I was playing Dynasty Warriors Volume 2 and I noticed that I can't hold the button for guarding, which is "L". I've to mash the button all time or else I'm getting hit. I didn't remember this happening when I played the game on my PSP so I thought perhaps the issue was with my gamepad, but if I try playing the game with ES-DE, which is another emulator that also uses Retroarch to run the game I don't have this issue. So it's clearly something wrong with Retroarch in Steam using PPSSPP, I honestly have no idea what it must be, and I believe there's no way to change settings nor to check when you run Retroarch with ES-DE. If someone has any idea for fixing this would be highly appreciated, as I prefer to play the games with Retroarch in Steam so that I can have cloud saves.
