PPSSPP and issues with some games
I'm trying to run the following games and I simply get a blank screen on loadup.

Dracula X Chronicles
Final Fantasy 1 Anniversary
Final Fantasy 2 Anniversary

On the first one i get the autosave popup but then blank. on both the FF games, i get nothing at all.

Try getting:
https://buildbot.libretro.com/assets/system/PPSSPP.zip
and placing them into 'Retroarch\system\ppsspp\ -

nope. still nothing will load whatsoever. any of my games, the second they try to access a memory card for the psp, it just gives a blank page. i can load some to the title screen, like Peace Walker, but when it starts recording data or trying to load anything, i get diddly.

The more i look into it, the more it seems my retroarch is not letting the games access the memory sticks

Maybe you are missing the bios?
magusrogue Nov 7, 2024 @ 10:00am
ppsspp doesnt need a bios

Well in my 'system' folder I have some ppsspp files and I have no issues with games, so I don't know what the problem here is.

im not sure either. did you change any of your settings?
Dgo Nov 7, 2024 @ 10:12am
Nope. I mean with my games I tested some stuff like fps but tried not to touch, change or save anything. Also didn't play much but the games I tested worked fine.

im stumped then. it absolutely has to be something to do with the save games folder. i tried loading Persona 2 and it told me it could not access the save folder and all data was corrupt.

load core and click Information> core information to see if required files are present.

According to the emulator compatibility list Dracula is playable and I can't find the other 2.

Also, googling about your issue:

https://www.ppsspp.org/docs/troubleshooting/game-wont-load/#:~:text=PPSSPP%20won't%20start%20(or%20shows%20a%20black%20screen)!&text=Update%20your%20graphics%20drivers%2C%20if,GraphicsBackend%20to%200%20or%202%20.

ºº PPSSPP won't start (or shows a black screen)!
On Windows
Try these steps in order, one at a time:

Update your graphics drivers, if possible
Install a new version of PPSSPP on top
Go to memstick/PSP/SYSTEM/ppsspp.ini and edit GraphicsBackend to 0 or 2 . 0 for OpenGL, 2 for D3D11.

ºº And there are several yt videos about it too.

On the other hand if you messed up settings you can always delete retroarch.cfg which will make everything go to default again and maybe fix things. Back up your files just in case.

And also you can specifically delete in the config system the emulator files but I guess to try and see. Back up your files just in case.

Ok I believe I know what's going on here. I tested the first game (DXC USA version).
I got to the screen when it asks me to press X and then the screen remains black and that's it.

Now, I tried that very game with standalone emulator and it works ok I can go beyond that screen and see the intro.

Therefore and as it happens with many other RA's cores such as dolphin and lps2, cores not allways are the same than emulators.

In these aforementioned cases cores are comparatively speaking pretty outdated, buggy and experimental.

As a conclusion, stick to standalone till the core gets an update some time.
