Netplay doesn't work?
So, help me out here...

Friend and I are trying to play an SNES game, and we try setting up a lobby. He says he can see it, and can connect to it for the password prompt to appear. But when he types in the password, he immediately gets disconnected. So, we can't 2p.

I think I set everything up right, as convoluted as it is. Otherwise my server wouldn't appear on the list, but as it stands we have no way to see if we have a successful connection, prior to me having to load a game.

If anyone can provide a comprehensive step by step, or help me out here as to why he immediately gets dc'ed after the connect, or what's going on here with Retroarc, i'd appreciate it.

Did you try Steam remote play? It can be decent if you both your connections are good.

We've attempted something to this effect. For reasons I can't go into detail about, I can't be visible on my friend list. And for remote play to work, I have to be visible on steam. There's a reason for this.

Fair enough. But there's also Parsec which does the same thing and there's no need for friends list anywhere. The host creates a link for the client to connect to.

Sorry, Parsec?

I recommend you parsec it's a free soft you just need to create an account and your friend too of course.
Not only can you play steam games but WHATEVER is on your PC. It's better than steam remote (the copy).
RA's netplay is way more challenging and requires a lot mor effort not to mention both need the same rom, core, etc.
Parsec is a win win.

Thank you everyone, for your feedback. It seems to have solved a whole boatload of issues, playing with parsec.
