What I can tell you is that using a soft like parsec allows you to perfectly host a game and invite your friend. It's fast, fluid and I truly recommend it. A subpar option is using steam's remote.
As Dgo is saying, there are better alternatives like Parsec, Steam Remote Play Together, Remote Play Wathever, etc.
Yo solo he probado Parsec y también me sorprendió lo bien que funcionaba. El Remote Play Whatever no lo he probado aún pero me gusta mencionarlo para que la gente sepa que existe en caso de que el resto no funcionen por el motivo que sea.
Yeah, SNES netplay is probably the best, but still some crashes sometimes. Parsec is better
for N64 - Mupen++ is the way to go through the netplay launcher. Just connect to any server with good ping, change your nickname, create a game room and let your friend to connect - then you can enjoy the coop gameplay, BUT! THIS one crashes sometimes.
