How to access PPSSPP save states menu?
Googling says that I should press the L and R buttons along with "start" and "select".

Did that, but nothing happens. Does anyone know how to bring up the ppsspp menu while playing a PSP game?

If I remember correctly hotkeys for saving state is F2 while Load State is F4. Those are RA's default controls.

I forgot to clarify... What would be the default controls if you're using the steamdeck console?

Hello I have a similar issue. L3+R3 brings up the retroarch menu. Is there a way to bring up ppsspp’s menu? When I try to upscale the resolution from 1x to 2x for example, my games crash, so I think doing it through the ppsspp menu could work.

You won't EVER access ppsspp menu as you are on RA. What you have is RA's menu and in the best case the core's option via main menuºquick menuºcore optionsºvideo and there you can increase the resolution.
If your game crashes maybe your hardware does not support it. Also on RA's video drivers that vulkan is selected.
