but retroarch maneged to allways mess that up and has reconfiguere a lot of times, im soon lost interests now as its diddent work property. not for me. Im sure its mess up again next time again.
Also hotkey is done the worst possible way and is hard coded to the first controller only, rather than type of button. So that is impossible to uses too. so routered to uses keyboard only for now in Tomb Raider style configuration.
Yes Auto config is turned on, but its diddent read it property too, due a strange bug readed the N64 config rather than the saturn one. Also if Steam Input is enabled, this is wortless anyway. but then has own issues instead. But works with the N64 one when Stam Input is enabled.
PS. Im dodes do eneded thumb up some cores as this has nothing with this to do. They are great.
This time its RetroArch simple does not like Z-Axis at all and suddently out of the blue conflicted with right trigger, dispite anything was correct set up. So im have no uses of this anyumore and has finally uninstalled. Steam version is piece of %¤%¤#¤%.
This time im unsuccesfull tried to remap it after the xbox controller, but its amazing failed me constactly.
Its sad as im really liked the rest of it. but controller binding did newer worked for me at all.
- n64 controller adapter mf103. The main issue is A button also sends for some odd reason to Z trigger as well. Cause this controller impossible to uses.
- 8bitdo m30 wireless when connected with usb (wanted to been a x360 wannaba with wrong standard configuration). The wireless function was bad on this controller.
When Steam Input API is enabled, its possible to work, but sadly you cant rename the emulated controller in Steam, so you get various of issues when im want to change controller and ies does its very badly.
When both is connected, im got all kind of issues reallys, so they could not woth togeter or when im wanted to uses one of them. The change its forgot its settings is very high.
So hence its impossible to uses Retroarch with various retro controllers in that way RetroArch works.
Also one more thing: HotKey does only works on first controller, which is stupud.
So that way retroarch do with port binding is very very bad and is a total joke and confusion. RetroArch have no sense and style which kind of controller its uses as you cant do a main configuration per core.
This app is NOT desinged to been used with the original retro controllers at all: Its only for the morderns controlelres.
Im could newer property get Nintendo 64, Saturn and Genesis 6 button to work without they allways %&%& each over up or retroarch just forgot the mapping and constactly need to remap again, again, again and again.
Amazing!
Im think im have remapped same controller 50 times. wow. So its so painstanky bad designed with retro controller and so bad designed.
Also disable Steam Inpuit was not the answaer. its was MUCH worse really for me! less and no more. Im can not remap anything inside retroarch as its so badly designed.
So only reampping that may work, that doing it outside.
Its require a complete redesign.
You just need to properly remap any specific controller in RA's general menu (not the quick menu), save the profile, and that's it.
To avoid mistakes and problems after that, a good practice is to set the created config files as read-only, this way, you'll never mess with your settings once you're satisfied with how it works.
The files are located in Retroarch > autoconfig > Driver_Name.
I also second the fact Steam Input should be disabled for RA, having it enabled can change the controller layout depending on your settings, so results may vary.
If you let RA handle the configurations, it will always work the same way if done properly.
Also note that gamepads using custom / unofficial drivers, like the official gamecube adapter for Nintendo Switch, can be messed up by other games or programs sharing the same drivers.
Just a thought too, usually, people having troubles with the UI are using the default one.
It's a matter of preferences, but I also had troubles with it.
Using the XMB interface, I just think it's much clearer and easy to use, so, maybe give it a try if you didn't already.
Also:
I'm not sure to understand, but you NEVER need to remap your controller for every game.
Remap it once in the quick menu if needed, save as "default for core", and you're done, the same layout will apply to every game started with a specific core.
