mGBA remapping on Steam Deck (Gaming Mode) not going well at all. Could do with some help.
I'm trying to remap some controls. I've given up on B (Steam Deck, GBA A button). It's stuck as Fast Forward. No idea how to fix it.
So I'm trying to remap GBA A to Steam Deck A and GBA B to Steam Deck X, but I can't make it work. I've tried searching but all the info I have found, I've been doing (quick menu > controls > Port 1 Controls > A (Auto) set to A and X (Auto) set to B). It just results in them doing nothing at all.
If you can help me with B being stuck as Fast Forward so I can map B to B, that'd be even better.

Try going to main menu:point_right:Settings:point_right:Controls/Entry:point_right:Hotkey/shortcut:point_right:search for the FF key and change or disable it

Well that solved that mystery. My steam deck's R4 was set to Button 1, Button 1 coincidentally being the bloody B button.
Thanks for that. No idea if I'd have gone back to check on it, remove the hotkey out of frustration, or if I'd have just stayed annoyed.

Anyone have an idea on how to make remapping A to A and B to B work? When I try, they stop working entirely.

Try F1:point_right:Main Menu:point_right:Quick Menu:point_right:Controller:point_right:P1 controller:point_right:

Also remember if you messed up settings or something deleting retroarch.cfg will make RA go back to default.

Already done that. The buttons will cease to function.

Will cease to function when or how?
Why don' you back up your RA's folder and try deleting retroarch.cfg?

If I change the bind for A and B they will not work. Cease to function. Register no inputs.
They only seem to work if B is set to A and A to B. Tried binding A to X and the same thing happened.
I can change them back and they work again. The point of rebinding them is so I don't end up worrying every time I press A or B.

Deleting that .cfg did it. I can set A to A and B to B and they function.
Thanks for the help.
