TG-16/PC-Engine and RetroArch Menu Hotkey conflict! (L1+L2+START+SELECT)
Hi Guys,

I came across a very interesting conflict, that I first thought was a bug, or crash, or something really stupid that I did wrong.

So as a bit of a preface with the goal of warning anybody in the future that might experience this problem and search forums for help. There is something very important about this console... the original one from the 80s-90s you need to know.

The Turbo-Graphx 16 was a really obscure little known gem in North America. It was successful but no where near as popular as the SNES or the Sega Genesis. Now I grew up with this system, the whole shebang with the CD-ROM games. WAAAAAAY ahead of its time tech for the era.

One of the neat things about this console is that instead of having to get up of your butt to press reset on the console (in a fit of rage quit) The designers (NEC) built-in this schtick where you can press RUN+SELECT on the controller to RESET THE CONSOLE.

Those of you who read the title, and are really sharp, and have a higher IQ then me, probably just went ding ding, and can stop reading.

For the rest of you, WARNING. If you use the hotkey combo L1+L2+START+SELECT for RetroArch and press the buttons in that exact order, you have initiated the TG-16/PC-Engine core's RESET feature. You've also just pulled open the Retro-Arch menu. Both things just happened simultaneously. As soon as you exit that menu, the Core is going to follow through what you told it to do right before the menu popped up... its going to RESET that game whether that was your true intention or not.

THE GOOD, THE BAD, and THE UGLY.

THE GOOD. Once upon a time that would have saved you from getting up and walking 10 steps to the box tv on the floor and pressing the reset switch on the console.

THE BAD. On RetroArch just casually playing I automatically assumed either I was an idiot and didn't install something correctly, as I am a total noob to RetroArch.

THE UGLY. Let's say your a total noob to RetroArch,.. and your just starting off testing things out to see how everything works,... what buttons do what, and what works and what doesn't etc etc. Let's say you try out one of your favorite games and play it for an hour using the keyboard, then decide to pull out a controller, ...

You tinker around setting it up and trying to get it working right. And then try the L1+L2+START+SELECT, and see HEY COOL it worked! YOU PROCEED TO OVERWRITE A PREVIOUSLY SAVED STATE, when you were playing with the keyboard, You then exit the menu AND... BAM!!!! THE GAME RESETS!!! ... AUTOMATICALLY.

MORAL OF THE STORY: THE WARNING!!!

If you're playing TG-16 games on RetroArch and use this hotkey to access the menu, RETRAIN YOUR MUSCLE MEMMORY TO PRESSING L1+L2+SELECT+START IN THAT ORDER!!!!!!

Whoever you are in years from now that just found this post... I am so ... SO sorry if you lost your important saved state. I hope this helps you avoid future data loss and misery.

Happy Gaming.

Did you try F1Main Menu:point_right:quick menu:point_right:controls:point_right:port 1 and bind the buttons as you want. The combo function should be there. Also try scrollock key and try the combo.
