Is there a way to force render switching on certain cores?
I know there is a setting for the core to switch renders but it's not giving the me the behavior i want.

Basically my problem is the dolphin core is causing garbled graphics with vulkan or glcore on AMD gpu graphics, switching to dx11 as default retorarch render fixes it but that will conflict and cause bad behaviors with other emulators i have installed and wish it to remain default glcore. The only options the emulator has itself in the quick menu are hardware and software.

Is there some ini/opt/ini script file i can change to make it default into dx11 when switching to the dolphin core or am i just going to have to make a separate retorarch install just to launch dolphin games because there isn't a way to do that?

Don't use dolphin core. It's outdated. Use standalone emu instead.

You can set a core override to achieve this. What you do is load up the core, either by itself or by opening a game, then navigate over to settings > drivers > video, then select d3d11. After this, return to the quick menu, go into overrides and select save core overrides. Close the game, then close Retroarch to save changes, restart it and see if it sticks.

This is great thanks! I always assumed that setting only applied to the quick menu settings for that core that makes things so much simpler than messing with a bunch config overrides with launch extensions options i was going to try.

There should also be an option to enable cores changing the video drivers too. Just go to Settings > Core > and set "Allow Cores to Switch Video Driver" to ON and this should allow the cores to change between different video drivers if needed.
