n64 analog controls not working with switch pro controller?
so im trying to play oot but i can only get the stick to register as an input like 1/10 times. just entering my name into the save menu was torturous, let alone trying to actually play the game. i dont see why it would be an issue with my controller or the remap file, since my controller's left stick works perfectly fine in retroarch's menu and gba games, and i didnt even touch the stick controls in my mappings. in case it means anything im using a switch pro controller which for some reason retroarch is calling an xbox 360 wireless controller

EDIT: i tried an actual 360 controller and that works perfectly fine????????? what the hell is going on here

I never had much luck with N64 controls in Retroarch on a 360 pad. I recommend using Project64 which is much easier to set up controls.

It works very well never had an issue there. Mupen64next plus works fine.

project64 works for me but i want rumble and i dont want a popup every time i run it
i cant get mupen64next standalone to work and the devs only use archaic methods of communication

I am a project64 fan however in RA mupen64next plus is just superior.
This reply isn't specifically about the controls, but look up Zelda OOT ship of Harkinian it improves a lot of the original and offers more options not entirely sure if it supprots your switch pro controller cause i don''t have one. And If your thinking of playing majora's mask afterwards look up "Majora's Mask N64HD" on youtube this for HD textures.

With mupen64next plus:
F1 Main Menu:point_right:quick menu:point_right:controls:point_right:port 1:point_right:scrolling down till reaching analog stick:point_right:enter over the 4 directions and choose the functionts you want.

i mean theyre already set to the correct ones (left analog y- set to control stick y-, etc)

They should work then. Check that your device is recognised by RA and eventually delete retroarch.cfg to make everything go back to default, maybe something's screwed.

I have been trying retroarch with a 360 & GC controller and I am getting odd behaviour on both controllers with the N64 emulator with the control sticks. I made a thread about it in the bug section but the devs haven't followed up but I hope they are looking into peoples controller issues because it stopped working after the last major update for me.
