Dosbox Pure games don't run in library.
When i try to scan a directory, then run a game using Dosbox Pure core, i get this:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2965764112

But when i go to "load core" directly, then load with Dosbox Pure, it works without issues...

What's happening here?

Just in case, make sure you have dosbox pure .info file in the info folder of retroarch.

Zip the game folder up with no compression
Run a manual scan, make sure the scan does NOT search inside zip folders. This will save you the headache of deleting unnecessary .exe files from library after the scan is finished.
Run the newly added zip archive from the library. You will see a menu that lists all the files inside the archive, highlight keen6.exe and press right arrow key (this will ensure keen6.exe is ran every time you launch the game from the library, bypassing the dosbox pure menu entirely) and press enter.

Starting games this never got me any errors, let's see if it works for you.

Did you try the manual scan?

Yes, that's what i did in the first place. And after it scanned, (zip files), it added the entrys to the dosbox pure section, but launching any game gives this error.

Unpacking to folders from zip doesn't work either this way, launching from the scanned library. It just gives a different error (can't remember what now, and i don't have any unpacked folders on hand now to try).

But if i load content directly, works... Weird...

most dos games need to run install first from the start menu

Yes but, the ones i tried like keen 6 from the screenshot work when loaded directly. But that same one doesn't when it's in the library. So it's not like the game doesn't work, or dosbox pure doesn't work, they do, just not when run from the library...

It says "illegal command: keen6_k.exe." seems there's a dot on the end that shouldn't be there. should be "keen6_k.exe" not "keen6_k.exe." You mentioned files are zipped, try unzipping should load content as .iso or .cue w .bin :( fyi, load content first then select a core not vise versa :)

If i load the content, then it runs fine, it just has problems when it's run from the library after the scan.
Oh well, i guess i'll run it the other way.

Yes, that also gives an error, but a different one. Also, some games that have duplicate .exe, com, or such executable files appear multiple times.
I think it's best i load the games one by one, i have a feeling that the scan somehow messes something up...
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Hey, nice, thanks! That seemed to work way better than normal scan! It works now!
How do you reset the autostart though? Like, if i want to autostart another file or something...

To bring back autostart menu, hold down SHIFT when you either start or restart the game from your DOS library.
