PCSx2 keeps freezing on me while playing Naruto Ultimate Ninja 3

I just got the Steam Deck, I'm a pretty new owner and followed a few guides, but this particular game keeps freezing. I don't know what I'm missing here. Any feedback would be appreciated.

This and some other cores aren't updated and still buggy. Use standalone pcsx2 instead by now.

I did that and the standalone emulator works fine but the controllers are funky. I was trying to set up rom manager but I can't seem to find the home/.steam/steam folder. Even when I click on the show hidden folders, it won't let me choose the grayed out folder as a path.
