N64 controller mapping
I'm having difficulty getting the buttons to map properly. I watched a video of a guy doing it, and it made sense for him, but it's not working for me.
I'm using an MSI controller, but it's essentially like an xbox controller.

For some reason R2 is R, and L1 is L, which is dumb. I'd prefer R1 and L1 to be R and L.
Weird things like X being B, and R1 being up-D (I think), and there isn't anything mapped for one of the D buttons (I think it's left-D).

When I'm in the controlling mapping area in the options, it's kind of hard to figure out which button it's talking about.
When I do click something to create a new input, it doesn't work.
I can push start to reset everything, which is nice, but the other commands don't seem to work.

It's probably user error on my part, but I'm not able to figure this out for some reason.

in game try main menu:point_right:quick menu:point_right:controls:point_right:port 1:point_right:go to the button you want like R1/L1 and bind them the function you want. If that works for you press backspace to go back and save the settings.

Another thing you can try is in game main menu:point_right:settings:point_right:entry/control icon:point_right:port 1:point_right:on device check if your controller is recognised and proceed to bind your buttons like in the first explanation.

Tell me if that worked for you.

I think I misunderstood how it worked.
So the stuff on the left is the controller I'm using, and the stuff on the right is the button in the system. Is that correct?
If so...
What does "C1" mean? I'm guessing it was the yellow d-pad on the right side of the N64 controller? If so, what does 1-4 correspond to in terms of up down left right?
And like, B is also C2? What's going on there?
and there's C button Y +??? I just don't get what I'm mapping here.

Thanks for the help!

Also, is it possible to declare controller mappings for each individual game? or is it just one setting fits all?

Exactly, left is literally your controller, right is the function from the emulated controller.

I believe they are the C buttons yeah however I use them with the another option which is: Cbuttons Y and X - and + the C buttons on the n64 controller.
X- is left + is right
Y- is up + is down (in case this is the opposite to you is because I probably activated the invert the Y axis).

Of course. When you save the controller settings you can choose to save for the game (only that game) the core or the whole folder where your roms are.

Hope I was clear enough to be understood.
