Increase resolution on N64 games

Whatever I do I cannot get any game to render at a superior resolution? In any emulator I used it was as easy as choose x2,x3,x4...

But here I try everything yet resolution doesn't change, I try to put the game in 16/9 instead of 4/3, nothing.

What do I do wrong?

The top options should be the resolution for both 4:3 and 16;9. Change those to something you want and leave the Resolution scale below as default, because putting in x1 or x2 will override what you set above. Also, most settings you change need a restart for it to apply.
