I have Swanbstation also but not sure it's enough up to date compare to Duckstation (witch is by FAR the best ps1 emulator).
Personally i am still stil waiting AT LEAST for Swanstation on Steam Retroarch and i think most of people: Dolphin, PSCX2 and...well Citra ? Will all of them and no problem ok. Not before.
I know i can add them but without being sure at 100% that i won't get any troubles without official supported core ? i won't . Prefer to use the standalone (for the saves i can just drag and drop for backup).
I finish both parasite eve using beetle it works flawlessly
I don't know why the hell duckstation core was removed it makes no sense. Swanstation have more input delay.
There is duckstation core file (2022-03.26) from my RetroArch files: https://pastebin.com/N0Bx1TWz
Extract to "..\Steam\steamapps\common\RetroArch\cores"
I also can share my duckstation seeting used for Parasite Eve 2.
First run Parasite Eve 2 with Duckstation core, and open "Quick Menu">Option>Manage Core Options>[Save Game Options]
Check what file name is, e.g.: "Parasite Eve 2 CD1.opt".
Then go to "..\RetroArch\config\DuckStation" and open that "Parasite Eve 2 CD1.opt" file with notepad and replace all with this text: https://pastebin.com/AMZiXunE.
Beetle PSX need these bios to run the game perfectly :
scph5500.bin for Japan games
scph5501.bin for US games
scph5502.bin for EU games
and Parasite Eve 2 run perfectly using Beetle PSX, check this video i did capture running PE2 with Beetle PSX core.

Yes t's exact ^^ The main problem in fact is the maintain of Swanstation. Myself i ONLY use Duckstation it's not random thing or by chance: it's the best one by all means specially for all his features very useful. I am on Tomb raider 1 and his infamous woobles...well there it can be adressed between other things (and put a x16 internal definition too and easily a x4 in speed up loading since it's emulated of course ssd doesn't have impact and being limited by the emulaiton itself).
I have both core: Duckstation and Swanstation , i will be using Swanstation only if i have no choice at all. Beetle HW (and ONLY HW for obvious performance reasons and compatibility the othe rin software of course will be much worse for obvious reasons )
For PCSX ReARMed according to what i have see it's typical: i have REALLY no choice because of my hardware. The less acurrancy and compatible between performance les good than thje others. But requirements are the less demanding.
Duckstation had EVERYTHING: compatibility almost near perfect in ALL cases and specially for 2d games (it's the Saturn who was better for handling 2d as his heart core reason not 3d except very rare cases as Grandia witch was excellent) and performance is excellent.
Very well maintened . His author had made an update for RA by the way and yes it's come to development again. Not dead by all means.
And thanks to stenzek ps2 is actually being tested for RA thanks to his requests ...at least seeing how it handle memory of games.
I know that someone has tested for Resident evil 4 on..pcsx2 for RA , the game page exist for on RA site.
Personally i have made a request for Dark cloud 2 on ps2 (Dark Chronicles on EU, Dark cloud 2 for us/hjap).
The build for pcsx2 RA work very well apparently, mean no crash. To my big surprise it can be tested. Won't be easy for but yes it exist.
Stensek is also the author of Dolphin AND Duckstation...
We earn him A LOT. And i respect him for.
