Which core you using because if you are bsnes you stupidly fast pc to run it even though it just a snes emulator.

Ok then what format is your game in, because I do believe N64 can be used in zipped format.
I only do zips... for the games.
I just clicked the install DLC button for the core.
Did you make sure to select NVIDIA as the GPU in your NVIDIA Control Panel settings rather than “Automatic” or “Integrated”?

To answer the initial issue, you need to check the documentation of the Mupen64+ core. By default it uses the GlideN64 plugin…which requires OpenGL drivers to be enabled. You’ll need to load the core without content to change the plugin setting.
ParaLLEl uses Vulkan
And Angrylion uses DirectX

And no Angrylion DOES not use Direct X it uses OpenGL 3.3 as described in this document.
