RetroArch

RetroArch

seeking a cheat file
So retroarch is a blessing in my life as I have always wanted to go back and finish old games I never did but no longer have either copies to play or working systems to play on. However I noticed that, when I loaded up Legend of Dragoon I could not for the life of me find any cheats for it. I'm not one to cheat my way through a whole game, but I would like it for those when I want to just cut through the grind for completetionist sake after the game's been beaten. So, does anyone know where I could find the .cht file for Legend of Dragon? I've tried looking into making my own but it's way over my head.

While I can't help there, I did want to offer my sympathies; LoD was a game I remember buying because it looked so promising and while it wasn't terrible, it definitely fell short of my hopes. LoD was a slog to get through and after I finished it, I found I had zero desire to try and uncover any hidden content.

I've tried that but retroarch doesn't seem to notice it. Is there a method for installing those that isn't just sticking it in the cheats file?

After downloading, copy the file to the RA cheats folder.

Usually located at:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\RetroArch\cheats\Sony - PlayStation"

Then:
- In-game press F1 > Cheats > Load Cheat File;
- Turn on the cheat you want from the list;
- Apply changes.

The way it was done in this video (starts in 19 secs), look: https://youtu.be/xDFipsbsd2Q?t=19

You can also consider manually inserting cheats. Sites like Cheatcc dot com or gamefaqs may have action replay/gameshark codes which are compatible.

To be honest, you can cheat in emulator games the dumb way, using Cheat Engine on RetroArch process. But you need to change CE settings Scan Settings > set checkbox "MEM_MAPPED" and under "the 'all' types includes" add 2 Bytes. In case of PS1 games, you'll usually search for 2 bytes values.
When I can't find the cheat in the already included cheat files, or it doesn't work, I found it's just faster to use Cheat Engine than Google...

I know I'm way late to this party, but the download option on that website doesn't work anymore. Is there a way to manually create a cheat-file for Retroarch?
