Welcome to RetroArch's Steam Page
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1118310/RetroArch/

First of all, we thank everyone for being here. We have just a few rules that we observe in all of our channels, so these should be familiar to anyone who has visited our community before.

Changes between Standalone and Steam version

No core updater. You install cores through Steam Store instead. After you install RetroArch, you install the Libretro core DLCs that are available separately. We have made 10 cores available as DLC so far. We are planning to add more eventually! They are all and will be free and are already available on Steam. All updateable assets (including shaders, overlays, etc) are pre-packaged and updated with new RetroArch builds. Basically, nothing is downloadable from our servers, everything goes through Steam.
No Desktop Menu.

You can enable Nightly builds under RetroArch > Properties > BETA > select nightly by clicking dropdown box.

Rules

  • No discussion of piracy!
We never, ever want to see pirated content, copyrighted system files or other unauthorized content shared among our group. Additionally, please do not discuss, link to or name sites that host illicit ROMs or otherwise promote or facilitate piracy. We assume everyone dumps their own games in accordance with the laws and statutes applicable to their locale. Do not give us reason to believe otherwise.

  • This group created for RetroArch and libretro, please stay on-topic.
We love standalones. If we didn't, there wouldn't be cores of them! However, this group is for discussion and support for RetroArch and libretro cores, so if someone has an issue and asks for help, please refrain from answers like "just use standalone," as it is both unhelpful and off-topic. Non-libretro cores photos/videos and streams will be deleted.

  • Be civil
Don't stir up scene drama. Use common sense. Harassment and hostility negatively affect the group atmosphere and are not allowed. You are free to offer your opinion respectfully, but comments intended to demean a group, expressions of bigotry and the use of racial slurs are not allowed.

  • No polarizing debates
Posts being created for the express purpose to create drama or debates (including trolling) are not allowed here and will be removed as per our discretion.

  • Follow the Steam rules
Please make sure that your post or comment adheres to the common Steam rules. Any submissions that do not follow these rules will be removed. You can check this link for rules.

  • No excessively sexual or violent content. Submissions must be SFW.
Excessively violent or sexual content, including but not limited to death threats, explicit content, gore, or content sexualizing real people or fictional characters is not allowed.

Why are you guys threatening to permanently ban people for helping out with tech support stuff? Some guy had an issue with a PS1 emulator and then someone posted bios which fixed it and got a ban for it. Makes no sense.
BIOS is something they can't share without trouble. People here could say "the BIOS will fix that", but actually sharing it has the same issues sharing ROMs or ISOs has, it is owned by a company that would be able to sue them.
Hi

I have Amiga 1200 and today buy steam deck.

The first rule on the list is No Piracy, this means we aren't going to share sites with piracy downloads. Without that, your options are limited. This might help though.

Hi

Ok 👍
Не могу заставить работать третьего игрока. Насколько я знаю, программа поддерживает до пяти игроков, но заставить работать больше двух реально невозможно.
cant run PS2 and GAMECUBE games there are no cores
will there be a dosbox core some day? :-)
It's normal for new users to have difficulty. I discovered RetroArch almost 11 months ago and as the months passed I discovered how to play GameCube, Wii, PS2, 3DS, arcade, etc. They must be added from other sources for now, the developers are still getting Steam's authorisation to add them here fully, but you guys can add them by yourselves with guides on YouTube. I was silly to be impatient at the beginning, it's not as complicated as it sounds.
Hi, I wonder if I can download other cores from other places? I think that there was a PC98 core (Nekokai Project) for the android version but I can't find it on this version, so will it be brought here or I have to install it from somewhere else?
Some games like Simpsons hit an run audio echoes….tried both versions from GameCube an ps2 same issue

why does the remotecache.vdf file rewrite itself with ALL the saves and savestates that I have, even after a clean installation??
Ugh, I got the computer from repairments last week, now everything I had about RetroArch is gone. Time to research cores and bios again...............................................

remotecache.vdf is iirc steam cloud stuff
I seem to have lost some functionality in my retrobit 10 button genesis controller. Start button no longer works in some cores. Was working fine before latest update. If I switch it to Xbox mode, the start button works, if I switch to 6 axis, it doesn't. I'd use Xbox mode, but some buttons won't do right.
