It depends on the core you’ll be using...but generally speaking since PS2 uses standard DVD, it shouldn’t be an issue. Just make sure you have your PS2’s BIOS backed up as well.

You should turn them to ISOs first anyway
I hope there’ll be some community guides to help with this kind of thing.

No. Right now Retroarch only has the Play! core for PS2 and its not in a 100% playable state yet.

There's no single PS2 Emu that can run all or most games correctly, either software (more accurate) or hardware (faster but with few hacks here and there). So dont put high hopes on running your games at higher res without drawbacks. Also is better to run isos, not directly from the disc.

You can but its limited to certain consoles as of right now but in time I would imagine yes.

https://docs.libretro.com/ On the left, For users. Lots of info but not on everything. I don't know how often they update it.

I do see a lot of people asking questions that the docs answer. So I guess a lot of people don't know about them.

PCSX2 can run a tonne of games great. I look forward to Play! core being as good.

I don't know much about PS2 emulation apart from there's emulators which allow you to use your own discs which i have a lot of.
I've used SNES, Genesis and Dreamcast emulators but that was a long time ago.

You want to use https://pcsx2.net/

Guide https://pcsx2.net/config-guide/official-english-pcsx2-configuration-guide.html
..and its been around for a long time so no shortage of info online. Probably looks more complicated than it is. You'll get the hang of it in no time I'm sure.

You can use the compitability list to see if the games you want to play work or need any extra steps in order to work. There are very few that I want to play that I can't but everyone's list is different. Compatibility is high though.

For some games that don't work of have issues there are sometimes different builds of PCSX2 with fixes for said game that you only use for said game.

For example, silent hill 2 has a FMV bug but you can use pcsx2-v1.5.0-dev-2877-gf73de4c59-windows-x86 build which fixes it or baldurs gates which has a half screen blank bug but using pcsx2-v1.3.1-585-gc753f0d-windows-x86 fixes it.

Retroarch is great but the Play! PS2 Core for retroarch is currently in the experimental stage.

PS. If you have the HDD space I would recommend ripping them into .bin/.cue (or iso) files and using those. I have no experience with emulating games running from disc but I would think its better to run from HDD. I would think load times would be better for one.

Damn it, my Megaman X Collection CD is not working anymore...I hope that PS2 Emulation gets improved some day, there's many cool games for that plataform, Original Xbox Emulation would be awesome, heck... What if Microsoft released a Official Emulator for PC?

PS2 emulation is pretty damn good and Megaman X Collection is playable https://wiki.pcsx2.net/Mega_Man_X_Collection

I doubt MS would do that. Companies go for what is most profitable.
You can get original xboxs cheap (Most games are also cheap). They are also easy to softmod and upgrade hdd. This guy still makes stuff for xbox https://www.youtube.com/user/JCRocky5/videos He's probably not the only one.
If you do ever get one, if its not v1.6 you will need to remove the clock capacitor as they are prone to leaking and damaging the motherboard.

editL The gamecube version is also playable with dolpin https://wiki.dolphin-emu.org/index.php?title=Mega_Man_X_Collection

I believe the "Play!" core doesn't use the PS2 BIOS but instead HLE.

Why not just Buy Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1+2, which are a far superior experience?

Aren't XBOX discs unreadable in PC drives?
