Like reading a good book or maybe being creative like drawing or writing something.
Steam needs a cringe award to give lol.
However, she faced bigotry based on her body vs her identity and took a firm stance against that bigotry when she became an adult, which is possibly why trans/LGBT community is interested in her. It's very relatable to them and that should not be disregarded.
I think she's a positive role model for such people, too. She's strong, but not 'dumb strong' the way some characters that were overinfluenced by modern waves of particular types of feminism can be. Her attitude about body image issues was to overcome them and blast through them with a loud 'F off' to the world and those that gave her such problems - bombastic and won't work for everyone, but plenty positive in my point of view. She's a well written character with sides and layers, and to be honest to me she's done a fair bit in terms of helping me empathize with sexual minorities (let's just say if I only stuck to my upbringing and family's values I would not have much of that).
However, if you're only going to listen to the absolute extreme activist groups, EVERYONE is going to have a problem with Kainé amongst such folks, especially with the new 'joke' achievement in the game.
But she IS female. She is 99% female, her body is female, her genetics are female, she thinks of herself as female.
She just has BOTH sets of genitals which is a genetic defect we call "intersex".
And in this game its even more complicated but thats a story spoiler.
Resetera has already a 15 page thread about it and started a petition to get " the problematic content removed".
Because Resetera.
The reason why there's more nuance here is that a transperson starts off set to experience physical aspects of themselves and puberty as a gender/sex incompatible with their image and gender identity, so they either 'transition' or 'are poised to transition'.
Kainé already has all the characteristics of a woman and one characteristic that 'doesn't fit'.
Is the discrimination Kainé experiences akin to transphobia? Yes, very (and arguably that's the point that matters in terms of empathizing and identification).
Is Kainé trans? Her circumstances are not *exactly* how it can happen in humans nor how it would happen in the 21st century, so my answer here would be 'you can see it either way'.
No she is not. She never wanted to be another gender. She was born female, has all female first and secondary body parts and never was treated as anything other then female.
She was made fun off by other kids when she was younger for having another set of genitals, thats all.
Intersex is not trans, neither by medical nor any other definition of the term.
