What voice language is everyone playing in?

I usually play Japanese games with Japanese voices since that's what sounds most natural for these games to me. However, I'm curious on what language everyone else is using for the voices. I played Automata in Japanese but I'm thinking of trying this one with the English voices.

The scene of Asuka speaking English/German (I can't even tell lmao) in the Evangelion sub and all the high pitched voices traumatised me forever towards subs.

If it's not "anime" (Sekiro, or live action films), probably sub, if it's "anime", like Nier, dub

I was going to do EN then JP, but I found out that the JP has bleeps every time Kainé swears and the dialogue doesn't match the EN subs, so what you're reading is not what they're saying.

She is not swearing in original dialogue except maybe 1 or 2 scenes though (unless they changed her in remake but I highly doubt they did) where it's done more for comedic purposes. All her swearing and ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up personality is made up in dub/localization. Exactly like MC in Drakengard 3.

I played with english the first time due to Grimoire Weiss, but I wanted to replay it later with japanese voices. The thing is that I didn't know Kainé was full of bleeps, so now I'm not sure what to do lol.

This is actually a great example of how somebody who only knows a handful of words in another language comes to the conclusion that a localization is bad because it's not the original script just put through Google Translate.

Being obscene in Japanese doesn't work like it does in English. English has a big group of words that are considered obscene and rude, and people casually sprinkle them into their conversation in order to make themselves seem more vulgar or to try to add more emphasis to what they're saying even though those words don't contribute to the semantic meaning of the sentence. These words are also considered "grown up" words that children aren't allowed to use and adults shouldn't use around children.

Being vulgar in Japanese comes from being impolite rather than using specific off-limits words. You use pronouns and conjugate your verbs in ways that are inappropriate for the situation and are condescending to whomever you're addressing. The words they choose have meaning and are even appropriate in some situations, they're just not the correct level of politeness for the situation at hand.

Kaine is very curt and condescending to everybody in the Japanese script. In real life, somebody who spoke like her would be considered incredibly crass, but that doesn't really come through in a "literal" translation because we don't have entire sets of pronouns and verb conjugations dedicated to showing how polite we're being. You get the same reaction from people in English by casually cursing in inappropriate situations. Similarly, when her speech gets bleeped out, what a Japanese viewer gets from this is that she's saying words so bad they can't be expressed in the current language. A "literal" translation in English would bleep out words as well, but that conveys a different meaning, because when an English-speaker hears bleeps, the meaning they get from it is that the script is being censored so it's safe for younger audiences to listen to it. They conveyed that incongruity in the English script by having her make up completely new curse words, which is both funny and also illustrates how she's so crude that even normal cursing isn't sufficient for her.

I have a lil question about languages. I play with the english dub, because thats how I rolled on my 360, and I wanted to see how it sounded with young nier. Anyway:

In facade they speak japanese as the "strange language", right? Are they speaking english if the language is set to japanese? >_>

The language spoken by the masked people is not Japanese. They speak the same language in both versions.

Played Automata in JP, no regrets at all after I heard a few scenes with Dub.
I also agree that JP is the the way the game creator has intended the game to sound. Unless the creator also directed the dubbing which I find unlikely as Yoko is not an English speaker.

So you can't really go wrong choosing the original voices :P

With Automata, Jp and En are interchangeable. In Replicant, English is superior in every way.

Really really? Well big oops. Maybe it's because the voice actors are japanese, and so they have a japanese twang in their uh... vocals.

The people here definitly speak a Japanese-like language. It sounds like Japanese, but put upside down or whatever. You can also hear the suffixe Japanese commonly use at the end of verbs, so I guess that the devs asked the actors to speak their usual Japanese, and altered it during post-production.
