False.

Kanji is so straight he could sniff those big ol dectective tiddys under all that chest binding and cover up.
He is so straight he questioned if he was gay cause of his animalistic lust to that female body presenting as male was so strong he thought maybe he was just gay this whole time.

Naoto is a Transvestite.

Mostly agree.

Kanji is surely bi, and Naoto is straight. But her outfit choices are more because she wants to seem masculine to avoid being mistreated and underestimated by coworkers. By the true ending, she chooses to wear something I assume she's more comfortable with.

(and Yosuke clearly has a thing for Yu, but that was cut from the game last minute. It even has English voice acting, which wouldnt be there if it was cut early on. It makes his attitude towards Kanji early on make a lot more sense as just being insecurity)

Hello sisters. Well in regards to Naoto-kun, we have to keep in mind that the author of the modern p games, has clear transphobic biases which erase Naoto-kun's identity even if in the game she decides to woman up.

On top of my head, two additional negative depictions towards transfolk come to my mind: that time you're swindled by a trans character in the P3 beach episode and of course, that infamous scene with Ryuji in Shinjuku.

It tells you a lot when the author showcases that transfolk change their identity: for malicious gain (p3), for predatory behaviour (p5) or just because they feel pressured by society (Naoto).

Kanji literally got a nosebleed (in the anime sense) from gawking at both Yu and Yosuke when they fell down the river.

I think for Naoto you have to keep in mind that the TV World shows an extreme of what a person feels or what others expect from them. This applies to everyone. From Chie sitting on other people to get what she wants, to Yukiko being shown as a Princess willing to show off her body and wealth while looking for a "prince charming", to Shadow Rise literally being "on stage", Kanji being one big stereotype, and Yosuke being excited to see someone get murdered as a change of pace................

All of them aren't actually what the characters really think or act like.

So its less "Shadow Naoto wants to change her gender only due to pressure". And more that its an exaggeration of how Naoto wants to not be looked down on in her job, and she knows that the reasons for this are her age and how her job is male-leaning. She doesnt actually want to go through with a surgery.

While Kanji is clearly attracted to Naoto regardless of what he assumes her gender is, Naoto doesn't really show any actions that enforce the notion that she actually wants to be a man.

Out of these three games, P4 feels like its actually trying to be open about its characters and ideas. Doesn't do them perfectly all the time (like having "its funny cause she's overweight" jokes), but its sure leagues ahead of P3 and P5.

P4 is a stepping stone to something potentially done much better (now that the director for 3-5 is out).
