Why is this game so hard?
I Platinumed Persona 5, and I found the combat to be rather easy.

Persona 3 FES and this game both kick my ass. I grew up on Final Fantasy turn-based gameplay.

I find it difficult not to try to push my luck on each floor, despite knowing that I'm probably too weak. And the reason I do that is because P5 (not P5R) was so tight with time that I want to maximize how much I get done each time I waste a day in combat.

Any tips on this? I know I can bump the difficulty down, but I feel like I'm missing something.

oh wait is Persona 4 considered one of the hard games?

oh I may have set my bar way too high for the rest of the series then......

I swear if I play Nocturne and it's as easy as this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

No, the persona games in general are easier than mainline games, barring maybe smtiv. I think DDS 1 & 2 are the most difficult, I haven't beaten nocturne yet but It's about as difficult as those.

persona 5 is super easy since you can baton pass everyone and you can get Mishima to give you more exp and you have checkpoints (safe houses) just for healing and save.

I never said it was one of the hardest games. However, since my expectations going into this game was that it was on par with Persona 5, it seems harder for reasons I didn't quite understand.

I appreciate all the great advice given to me. Thank you all for your input. I don't think the boss of Yukiko's dungeon was particularly hard. I just went into it on day 1 extremely underleveled, having used all my health/sp items and wondering why I couldn't clear it ASAP. And considering I bought gear before going into the dungeon, I thought I was prepared.

I just went into it on day 1 and i beat it I'm assuming you're talking about normal difficulty to have you tried going around fusing personas better in fact technically you can be all of the dungeons on day one and I never really did any extra grinding I did a bit of extra grain and they got my off party caught up but at the end of the game My main were level 73 and the main character is level 80 which was a bit high but that's because I only levelled up my off characters a bit

I didn't. I even skipped floors after the fight with the Knight because I was so low on SP. I'll be more patient next time.

I do agree though SP management at the beginning is much harder then by end game but Being smart with SP will go far but you can get cheep SP items befor going in and be just fine

and remember even if you are having problems it's okay to go back out and restock on SP

just take your time

oh yes because I love not being able to control my party members are idiots

there's a difficulty and artificial difficulty if I die because Yuko refuses to heal me when i'm at 80% Hp and need to be at 100% that on the game not on me

if I want to go play a game where I'll never get healing when I need it I'll go play Final Fantasy XIV

You can control your party members in the PS2 version of Persona 4... you just couldn't in Persona 3 PS2 (Marin Karin meme). Luckily they added full party control in the Portable version of Persona 3.

Was also just a response to the OP saying this game is hard. I completed the PS2 version literally right before I purchased the Steam Golden version... and it's noticeably easier.

Yeah, I played P3 FES and was like "screw this" when I heard there was a version where you could directly control your party members.

I started with P3 PS2, gave up in irritation. Beat the PSP version, liked it so much went back and finished the PS2 version after I had a better understanding of the mechanics.

PS2 version isn't that bad once you start learning how to issue commands (make sure Mitsuru is on Full Assault!) but they'd still do dumb things from time to time.

I just want to be clear about something. I feel like people are thinking that I'm calling this game "hard" by general standards. I'm not, though I can understand why you would perceive it that way.

I just easily cleared P5/P5R and had never played a Persona game before that. So, RELATIVE to Persona 5, this game is hard IMO IMO IMO.

I've researched all the persona games all the way back to the 1992 Megami Tensei, and I acknowledge that those games are SIGNIFICANTLY more difficult than the new games.

I guess a good analogy is Sekiro. I also thought Sekiro was insanely hard after destroying the entire Dark Souls franchise. But then, after retraining myself, I 100%ed it on Steam.
