I done that before and it didn't work
You could try and launch the game through the exe instead of the Steam Client, that way you should at least get an error message which the Steam launcher often skips.
This is what you should do.
The error message can help narrow down what you need to do to get the game working. Most of the time, it's installing or reinstalling one of the 32 bit version of the Visual C++ Redistributables, but there are definitely other reasons.
It will take you to the directory where the game installed. You can run the exe from there.
What version of Windows do you have? Is it an "N" version?
