FYI I still have the original Doublejump guide for the game and it states the same even though it doesn't cover the P4G version of the game.
It is possible your save is corrupted as well. I save at every possible opportunity so I'd suggest going back a save and trying that if the uninstall/reinstall doesn't help.
I personally have never suffered this issue so I don't know what your situation is. I'd have to actually see it to understand the issue. In any case I'd report this in the bug section at the top of the discussions list and see what they say there. If as you say your expression is enthralling there is something wrong somewhere other than that. That is the best place for this question then.
Are you sure about that? The message they're getting seems to be the one that just means that they need more s. link points before they can reach the next rank, not that their expression isn't high enough.
That being said, unless the guide is just incorrect, it's hard to say for sure from the information provided what might have gone wrong. Sorry I can't offer anything more helpful.
I only made suggestions that I would do if I were sitting in that persons shoes. Since I myself have never had this issue I personally don't have to worry about it.
1) reload a previous save to see if that fixes the issue.
2) uninstall and reinstall the game to see if it is a file issue within the game itself
3) report it in the bug post tagged at the top of the discussions list.
As for not having enough S.Link points anyone who has played this game long enough knows that there are opportunities to gain those points by having the S. Link Persona on hand then speaking with the individual in between S. Links to gain enough points to reach that next level or the shrine for fortunes. The game will actually tell you if you are close enough or not.
There is simple test for this, then. Go to the shrine at night and pick a fortune for Nanako. It will tell you if you need more points or if the S. Link is ready to go up. That should answer the TC's question as to whether or not she is ready. If it says she is ready and it still doesn't work then it is an issues with the game itself and not the player. Hell, you can even cheat the shrine fortune by saving, going there, drawing the fortune then reloading if you don't get the fortune you want thereby saving you losing out on visiting other links.
As for "if I'm sure" I personally make sure to cover ALL bases when I have an issue with ANY game. If there is a new patch for a game I don't just install the patch ... I uninstall and reinstall the whole game. Following the advice of many before me I now install Steam outside the program files. It pays to make sure the issue isn't on my side first so I don't look like a fool later.
I am aware that the game tells the player whether or not the social link is ready to advance before they decide to spend time with a character. The wording of the original post made it seem to me like they were getting the "you feel your relationship isn't ready to advance yet" message that indicates that they do not currently have enough points in the social link to advance it to the next rank; if it were trying to tell them that they didn't have high enough expression, it would tell them that clearly and would not give them the option to spend time with nanako at all.
I'll admit I've never attempted to follow a day-by-day guide like this so I suppose I wouldn't necessarily have much insight as to what might be going wrong. I wouldn't know if maybe the guide is mistaken or the OP missed a step somewhere or if it's something else entirely, but it doesn't necessarily seem to me like the game is behaving incorrectly.
Rank 2 should be B -> A -> C, not B -> B -> C. Option B on choice 2 doesn't even give any points.
Rank 5 says A or C for the last choice, but C gives more points.
Rank 7 isn't even listed in the guide.
Rank 9 again says A or C for the last choice, but C again gives more points.
I think if this is even real (only a new player, a long returning player, or an ignorant one wouldn't understand how the S. Links work) he/she would have consulted a second guide to see if the first guide is correct or not. It always pays to double check. FYI I happen to keep subject notebooks near me at all times that cover certain games I play so I keep track of necessities as the game goes along in case of replays.
It could also be argued that we both read this topic differently but I stand by my comments. Since it is pointless to continue this between us I am going to unsubscribe from this topic. The TC hasn't even commented after our comments anyways.
Feel free to get in the last word if you wish. I won't be here to see it. At this point in time this is more a discussion between us then it is anything else.
Not surprised at all.
The only achievements I didn’t get require a second playthrough anyway. And I’ve not gotten around to it.
