I feel like I'm going insane

I've been trying to get coal for Quest 24. I've scoured Kanji's dungeon flloor 7-8 on rainy days and selfish basalt's are rare to see, and even when I find and defeat a selfish basalt they only drop ornaments I'm currently just going through the whole dungeon again. Is anyone else going through this!

i don't remember if selfish basalt need to be on rainy day, however i always find that thing when third dungeon opened and come back to second dungeon to fight its optional boss along to find additional drop items for other quest from second dungeon

based on guide i followed: https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/vita/641695-persona-4-golden/faqs/68730 it's suppose on 5-6f, but well good luck
