Video games in the form of computer programs embodied in physical or downloaded formats that have been lawfully acquired as complete games, when the copyright owner or its authorized representative has ceased to provide access to an external computer server necessary to facilitate an authentication process to enable local gameplay;
Video games in the form of computer programs embodied in physical or downloaded formats that have been lawfully acquired as complete games, that do not require access to an external computer server for gameplay, and that are no longer reasonably available in the commercial marketplace, solely for the purpose of preservation of the game in a playable form by an eligible library, archives, or museum;
Also Valve didn't say "All games will work on Steam Deck." They said they're goal is for all games to work on Steam Deck, and that if a game doesn't work it's viewed as a "bug" to be fixed.
I was more talking about the fact that even if Valve has a solution if Atlus does not opt in to allow Linux and Steam Deck Support the game is unplayable, because Valve has to respect there choice or they can get in trouble(there being a server box that they have to opt in to check to allow it).
I also understand Proton can Play the game that's more what I am talking about. The Denovu or DRM prevent's the Game from Starting up(At least for me), and Constantly Re validate the game thinking I am trying to "hack or Pirate" it to work.
Linux has alway's had Problem's where Denovu and EAC game's cannot be played because they want to say your "cheating" or "pirating" even though your not,and you own the game.
I would be interested in what version of Denovu you are using as I would love to check if it work's or not.?
(this application has crashed) I am sure you might have either window's , and are looking through the Proton Site ,or a (3rd Party Non Steam Program I am unaware of that help's),Because the Site Protondb does say the game should Run ,but it does not.
DRM, Denovu, and Anti Cheat all Make Game's Unplayable on Linux Unfortunately That Is why the Steam Deck Is such a Hype for Linux gaming. (though as I said If Atlus Does not Give Valve Permission to allow the Exception there's nothing to do)
My Assumption Is that The "game its self" Works (Hence the protondb rating)It Does Seem to Compile and Convert the DX calls to Vulkan API ,however the Denovu is booting me (or others probably off as "pirates" or "cheaters")
Though My Guess Is Most People Probably are using the "Goldberg" Version of the game you can "Aquire" online somewhere , and then run via Proton as a 3rd Party Steam game(hopefully they still buy the game though , but with them acting this way Why should Most People? Like Really this Is VERY Anti Consumer).
I just think if Atlus (or any other Developer) what's to say we are "Stealing or Cheating" for just wanting to Play the game on a Alternative OS they should stop saying it's "Stealing or Cheating" ,and At least say "hey yeah we know you are not Cheating your just on Linux ,but your playing on a Platform We Don't Support"
That way People don't have to Waste there money for this ,and it's not just Linux Even a lot of Window's People are sick and tired of a Company "protecting" a game that is 1 on PS2 (which Emulation can Play Eventually the Vita Golden Version as Well Only a Matter of time) 2 already has been Denovu Cracked so it's pointless anyway, 3 Actively Slow's Down Framerate and load Time's cause's stutter , and Break's when you want to Play Offline.
I Found the GE(Golden Egg) Fork of Proton You were Talking about,and Installed all dependancy's with the Terminal and ...etc
I Tried The Latest Version , and The Specific P4G one they made
I even did the Tip's the Site said to do like Deleting the .pfx file , and re clicking play.
(or even the Wine trick/Proton Trick as Well) Nothing Worked
the game actually Worked worse with the GE (Golden Egg) release's then with the Valve Stable 6.3.7 or Experimental Version.
First of All It Would not Even show the app it's self as a tab or screen just nothing but it saying the game is "Playing" on the Steam Tab, but nothing.
While Using Valve's Version The game actually at least start's, and go's through the Logo's show's the little TV to the bottom right all the way until right Before the OP (Shadow World) is about to play(doesn't play) then Freeze/Crash.
Again I will Reiterate The best thing to do Is Probably Just use The Goldberg Version (until Atlus Get's up off there High Horse ,and remove's the DRM) I might try it Later to see if it work's with the "Goldberg" Version I don't want to Deal with this right now It's Too much Work For this stupidity.
