Persona 4 Golden

Persona 4 Golden

Hollow Forest was a mistake
Worst idea for a dungeon ever. I completed it anyway because Marie is best girl and I had to save her, but did people seriously playtest this and think it was fun and engaging gameplay? Every time I entered a battle I literally just pressed TAB and walked away from my computer to do other stuff until it ended. Even Cup cards don't matter (if you're lucky enough to get them) because you regain your SP first, THEN it halves. At least you can exit the dungeon and use your normal items then reenter with full SP before the boss. Without that trick I probably wouldn't have been able to finish it. Anyone else think HF is extremely tedious and boring for no reason?

You're meant to use items instead of simply attacking like usual.

The whole dungeon is setting up for a boss that also relies heavily on the items you find.

I kinda liked it. If you approach battles differently than usual, using items and escape options (or just put spell master, invigorate, and cool breeze/victory cry on your main persona and breeze thru it) it's a lot more engaging than the usual formulaic dungeons. Definitely got old after awhile though, especially the rope cutting encounters, it made it go on way too long

I don't know, I cast Hassou Tobi upon entering each battle and won pretty handily.

On a more serious note, the SP every turn makes up for it pretty well, and you still have Vigor Song refueling you. The higher level stones give you enough to cast a -dyne level spell every turn. You will be low on SP the whole time, but you should have enough to cast the important stuff, especially if you have any SP related stuff on your personas.

Dunno man, the SP regen items you get are pretty cool, so I didn't see much issue with it, Invigorate 1 2 and 3 rocks and you can still pretty much spam glorious basic attacks if they work. My issue with it is that it gets old very fast.

TBH every Megami Tensei (yes Persona is part of the family tree) game has cheap parts of it.

You are not alone, it's one of the most boring dungeons.

And I particularly did not care much about Maria. I felt that they hack jacked the main story just to tell at the same time another story. I don't mind much the character itself. I just felt that she was Poochie in The Itchy and Scratchy show, you erase that character and everything goes to normal.:p4g_singing:

No way man, she's what makes Golden, "Golden". Without Marie, it's just Persona 4.

Yeah, that' true. (apart from every change they made to the game)
I would have loved that she was part of the story, not just a ghost that lives in the limousine and you are the one making her leave the car. It's true that the whole story about her is that. She does not have memories, she start having memories thanks to Yu

Hollow Forest was an interesting dungeon. I do believe having your SP halved after every battle was a bit much, but everything else was fine. The dungeon is basically how it feels to play the first dungeon on the highest difficulty. My advice is trying to get through the dungeon as fast as possible. Although the game tells you to gain SP back by spending more time in battle, you're better off going for the kill quickly. The final boss fight in this dungeon truly made it worth the trouble of keeping some of your teammates' elemental breaks.

Not gonna lie, I actually kind of liked it. Sure the fact that your SP is halved after every encounter is incredibly pointless and stupid. But I really like the concept of you having to use equipment that you find throughout the dungeon in order to make your way though it. It kinda reminds me of Ipsen's Castle from Final Fantasy 9 in a vague way. Where you have to use weaker weapons that you can find throughout the castle in order to deal more damage to the enemies
