On a more serious note, the SP every turn makes up for it pretty well, and you still have Vigor Song refueling you. The higher level stones give you enough to cast a -dyne level spell every turn. You will be low on SP the whole time, but you should have enough to cast the important stuff, especially if you have any SP related stuff on your personas.
And I particularly did not care much about Maria. I felt that they hack jacked the main story just to tell at the same time another story. I don't mind much the character itself. I just felt that she was Poochie in The Itchy and Scratchy show, you erase that character and everything goes to normal.
