Did this get harder?
3rd playthrough now on normal, i just died the 10th time within 3 hours.
Thats more than on the 2 first playthroughs i did last year combined.

Mind Charge + Zionga = 280 damage (no weakness)
Lion Wheel on marukyu 274 damage, normal attack (2 times now)
The Tank on Stage 9 Marukyu hit me with Bufudyne for 462 damage (no weakness)
Hama = works 3/4 times on me and teammates
Mudo = see hama
-the list goes on.

I specifcally chose normal difficulty to avoid that kind of bs

I had no issues going through the game on hard mode, I think that Zionga on mind charge is pretty normal, as for the rest it sounds you might be underleveled or have low defence gear.

In any case you can always lower the damage taken on the difficulty settings.

I see that being underleveled is a problem but not if you know what you're doing.
I beat the boss of marukyu on the first try after dying all those times at level 30. Guides suggest you best be lvl 38-40. It just seems really unbalanced/cheap death with random encounters. And it's 8/10 times these hard attack hits the MC, not any other group member. That's uncommon imho.

Some enemies are super specialized and will have ungodly amount of stats into one way, like strength for example, those Wheels are very strong because of that, since they don't have any other strong stats (I mean, did you ever go into the wiki and look for some particular shadow? Those stats are overkill), and Hama/Mudo is literally made to end your day so there is not much to talk about. Play with your affinities and you should be fine, maybe get a Resist Physical upgrade into Null Physical and you are good to go.

Also, lvl comes into play when talking about damage, but I'm not sure it affects Hama/Mudo proc.

Difficulty only affects damage, xp and money gain, so there is no use fiddling with it much when talking about instakills.

Exactly what you say. Funny enough, after beating the Marukyu boss, i never died again. Not a single time in the entire game. Not by enemies hitting a weakness, not by hama or mudo, no more cheap kills with damage that exceed my total max hp. From Marukyu on, the game felt as easy as i remembered it. Maruky is just way too hard at that point of the game or the other dungeons too easy. I beat the last boss with 3 chars as i didn't ever buy revival beads and had no recarm skills. Like THAT easy.

Anyways, i'm already looking forward to next years playthrough :)

Good to know that you got it going, really that dungeon is a hell of a RNG ride if underleveled, even the rare shadows send some status effects (if I remember right).

Yeah the game feels easier after that, when you get the ball rolling with some good skills and affinities, and in the lategame you get borderline broken without trying, if you really try, then all hell breaks loose, specially with that triple auto Trumpeter, that is just unfair.

Last week i started P3P (with the better textures pack) and as i already went through P3 FES a year ago, i remembered it to be equally hard, and it turns out, it relies more heavily on bringing the right team to the tower. If you don't constantly get extra turns for hitting the enemies weaknesses and not being hit there yourself, you're much more easily done for. It's really interesting to see the Persona series progress through the years. An absolute gem, that one and i guess they're already porting it for Steam while we speak. It's the next logical step and they won't be porting P5R before P6 will be released console exlusively in 2-3 years. Aw man, i really wish it wouldn't always take this long :)

Man I absolutely love P3P, there is something in Tartarus that I don't find it as boring as other people say, must be because of the team management playing a big role on the game, I hope they do honestly.

Talking with you makes me want to replay it, but I got P3FES running with some mods and I gotta say, it feels really good, so I'm not picking up on P3P for now.
