Is Fusing not worth it in Persona 4 Golden?
So for a bit of background I have played Persona 5 Royal, Persona 3 FES, and am playing the female route for Persona 3 Portable. I have only played Persona 4 Golden a bit on my vita, but started going fully into the game since it came to steam. I'm on the 3rd dungeon and I'm curious. Is it worth fusing new personas when Izanagi just steam rolls through enemies? It's just that compared to the other games I've noticed the cost to fuse personas is pretty damn high, along with item/equipment cost. Every time I use Izanagi he levels up and he also gets the stat cards that get his stats higher. As of right now my Izanagi in total has 135 stat points which is almost 40 more compared to other party members.and my other higher leveled personas I fused. So every time I fuse a new persona it's just weaker then my Izanagi. It really makes me think whats the point of fusing if my Izanagi is just gonna be better?

The combat in this game is pretty easy compared to the mainline SMT series, so I can see why you might think that, especially if you've stuck with Izanagi all the way and got some stat bonuses from shuffles. If you don't plan to tackle the ultimate boss and don't mind the basic attacking skills (you could change those with cards though), you could just keep on using the starting persona until the end if you want to.

That being said, you should at least consider getting some personas for the social link purposes and Margaret's requests as well as to cover all elemetal attacks for double turns.

By the way if anyone is wondering this is my current Izanagi https://imgur.com/Aal3cqE when compared to my current highest level persona https://imgur.com/WBqb5q6.

Yeah I have been fusing new personas if I can just in case and I have also been giving most extra skill cards I got go to Izanagi since what else I'd use them for.

You know that you can save persona's current state right? Just fuse to get new persona to expanse your abilities and buy izanagi back if you really need him that much. Stats is nowhere near as important as covering your base of exploiting weakness or negating enemies attacks.

are you playing on easy or something? i kept izanagi at most until the start of bathouse, at that point the random persona drops are stronger than what all the leveling i had been doing got him to (i played in normal)
the general rule is you fuse the strongest thing you can get, though i'll admit i did keep a black frost that started at level 41 (38 base + 3 from social link and daily bonus) all the way to about 72 by the end of the game, but thats just because he started strong, has 2 drains and synergyzed with my party anyway

Izanagi is technically viable for a while after the game starts, but I wouldn't stick with him too long on your first play. Other personas end up getting a lot of resistances (some can even be immune to every element with the right skill transfers). You can't get Margaret's social link or complete the compendium without fusing, either.

I know I can save them in the velvet room, but the issue is the cost buying personas back. Everything is very high priced in Persona 4 from personas to weapons. A sword right now is 20,000 yen! I'm not even doing my second hard play through yet. So when deciding to fuse personas it's that or miss out on healing items/equipment.

I'm on normal, but yeah. I've still been fusing personas when I can just in case. I just feel Persona 4 really makes fusion very unrewarding or at least not worth it. At least not early on. I do feel that ounce I get into the 4th or 5th dungeon, fusion will become more useful, but for right now me personally it's not cutting it. Also nice Black frost!

Yeah ounce personas start getting into the Black frosts and such then it'll be more worth while in my opinion, but yeah early on it feels really not worth it. I think whats most at fault is the shuffle system making it really easy to get sat boost, exp, money, and skill cards for just playing the game good as rewards.

Looks like you been picking a lot of stat boosting cards from the shuffle time for your Izanagi.

Doing the compendium is still worth it, you seriously need more of the late game attacks as you move forward, not to mention you need some of the fusions for Margaret's social link.

Stats are great, but you can only do so much with a persona once it's moves pool reaches it's limit.
