MC before he moved to inaba

in the cutscene where he gets onto the train at the beginning there is a teacher announcing his leave and then the classmates react with things along the lines of "aw come on" hinting that he was popular at the school in his hometown. Is there any other information about MC before the events of p4 or is it a mystery like dojimas wife

Well Dojima's wife isn't really a mystery, Dojima's and Nanako's social links touch on it and the golden ending gives some more details

The only thing we know of Yu's past is that he was apparently pretty popular at his old school, he can be a little shy at first (notice how for the first few days just saying "..." to pretty much everyone is a valid option) and that his parents travel abroad very often.

His past before the game is something I wondered about, too. From the flashback and his getting on the train, plus the fact he would be spending a year in Inaba, we can get an idea of the types of jobs his parents could have. Traveling at long distance so that the MC can't be at home, falls into a few categories. Contract acceptance work on large projects, typically business integration projects with new acquisitions overseas would fit, though this could be a large scale government contract, too. Having both parents working at this is a bit iffy, but it would fit, as a large scale contract will have a lot of particulars that must all be checked, and then signed off on, requiring long periods away from home. I did that on a government project and spent more time away from home than at home for a year and a half. The next thing it could be is overseas embassy work, that allows for being on home soil while being overseas and doesn't run into problems of maximum time spent away from home. Other than those you are down to the wildcat treasure hunters, oil rig workers, and scientific crews stuck in the Antarctic during the winter there, with prep and having to get used to exposure to all the minor diseases that popped up in the way of influenza and colds. That stuff gets to be a pretty long time. Given the dialogue choices, I tend to favor the Diplomatic concept, though how both parents got into that is a problem. Silence means you aren't putting your foot in your mouth, and once he gets his skills going he gets some very diplomatic choices. None of these are particularly high exposure jobs, as such, though being on a diplomatic negotiation team does require some of that, but it is something most of the public ignores.
