true ending is pointless
when i first played persona 4 i finshed it and i did not even know that there was a true ending so when i replayed it just to do this. i felt it was pointless like ameno disco ball is already a good final boss an i feel he is better then gas lady like yeah lore wise its good that you got rid of the midnight channel but everything ends the same only in the true ending you get that extra sence with the characters. i dunno maybe thats just me

Not really in my opinion
I'll admit i got normal ending and felt like that was all but then i did come to thinking about why did it all happen, was it just a plot happening for the sake of making something for the game or was there something else to it...
The addition to being introduced to a third party who basically orchestrated the entire plot of the game does feel interesting to me and it brings a better closure knowing that this is for real the bottom of the barrel of what the investigation team set out to seek and they know it's truly over now
Welp thats my take on it

Persona games are heavily thematic and a lot of stuff in them is about representing their core theme. In P5 its UI promotes its rebellious themes for example (without diving into spoilers I can't really give better examples), and in this its all about how obscured and easy it is to turn a blind eye to truth. Having an easy to obtain ending would go against this. Persona games also generally have an "easy way out" ending that doesn't stick to its themes but is an easier option to take (in terms of if you were in that position), and again since obscured truth is the theme of 4 it just isn't blatantly pushed in your face, you have to actively say "no" to being pushed along to the ending and find it yourself, which whether you like it or not is pretty cool and stays true to the overarching theme.

That’s kinda the issue with true endings, you either make the true ending the more fulfilling one and leave the people who didn’t get it (because they either didn’t know it exists or didn’t know how to get it) feeling disappointed with how the game ended leaving a bad taste in your mouth, or make the normal one better making replaying the game for the secret ending jut feel like a small half eaten cupcake

Feeling disappointed with the normal ending is intentional, though. You stopped seeking the truth, falsely believing the game to be over. The game hammered in how the truth you first reach oftentimes isn't the actual truth, and that applies to the game's ending.

The epilogue is great

I missed the Golden epilogue on my first run so I decided to immediately replay it in order to get it and man, everything from the character design changes, the little bits of closure for some side characters, Yu's final smile and hearing the alternate version of never more after experiencing the original ending was great. Ending a game that had me smiling for 130 hours on a smile like that was just such a nice touch.

Vanilla P4 ending I would agree with you.
But I think the new Golden Ending wraps things up quite nicely.
You actually get to see how Inada and all your friends are doing after the events that happened and see how more mature they've all gotten.
It's a lot better than just saying a tearful goodbye to your friends and then just leaving on a train.
