Never played Persona: P4G a good place to start?

Or should I play an earlier one? I know nothing about this game except that it's a jrpg.

P4G is a very good place to start, its fairly accessible.

P4G is a great starting point. At most, all you'll miss is a few small references to earlier games.

I guess P4G is a good game to start shin megami tensei with, since it's even more newbie-friendly than P5 imo.

Persona 4 is probably the worst starting point out of the modern persona games, I would recommend starting with either 5 if you want a your first experience not to be sullied by non current mechanics and graphics, or 3 if you want to experience what the game series has to offer at its peak. Do not go from 5 to 3, you will be filtered.

Personally I haven't finished it yet but I'd say it is a good way to start, though I started with Persona 3 fes myself to get all the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ out of the way first.

I've played 3, 4, and 5 now, and I think 4 is a great place to start. It's better than 3 in terms of gameplay and 5 is even better than that, so if you go to 3, it won't be as difficult to get used to as if you started with 5 and whenever you do move onto 5 you'll be amazed at all the improvements it makes over 4. Go for it!
