The Japanese VAs are more consistent in quality but i personally can't handle Teddie's/Kuma's voice.
Both are great overall tho, really depends on your preference.
English all the way.
Careful criticizing Troy Baker, he might get *annoyed* at you (I wish I was joking).
Love to the people that recognize Chie's Golden VA as being total ♥♥♥♥ though!
The Japanese voice tracks do have noticeable audio artifacts, however, so keep that in mind. Something else to keep in mind is that the subtitles are for the English dub and nit the Jaoanese track. I speak both languages, so it bothers me when a character says something in Japanese but the subtitles reflect entirely different dialogue.
Either him or the voice director messed up, since he sounds like he's still doing a first take rehearsal during some of the Golden sub-plot scenes. Maybe the guy's just not being paid enough or something.
It's definitely different, but the new one fits her personality better imo... The older VA just makes her sounds too mature.
Disagree hard on the Chie.
The old one sounded energetic and bouncy, it fit quite naturally and I loved her energy in general.
The new one sounds like a forty-something woman who's chainsmoked all her life and either mistakes or was told SCREAMING IS PEPPY YEAH!
New Chie *constantly* yells her lines with faux-enthusiasm. It's distracting and annoying and just does not fit X_X.
I think you have it backwards. The OG Chie sounded like she was between 30-40 years old with no emotion at all while the new voice had a lot of emotion.
Apart from where I *most definitely do not* have it backwards.
There is far more derision of the new Chie than the old one.
Feel free to look it up.

Bad quality, old video, not mine, etc.
That clueless overacting is present on most of new Chie's deliveries.

Better video with more voice lines & includes JP VA
