How do you know what skills are best to be inherited?
I'm actually playing Persona 5 royal but i figured it should be similar for Persona 4 as well. How do you know what skills are best inherited for a persona? For example I created Jack Frost but he inherited a wind skill. Is there any way to determine or figure out what skills are best inherted? I know some personas focus on actual physical attacks and some magical. Guess im still a bit confused on how this works.

Examine their weaknesses, the skills you can choose, and the EXP you get from a social link.

What I can say for sure is - don't focus that much on ailment-inducing skills. Confusion can be cast with physical attacks with no SP cost, and is 1 of the best ailment in the game. Stuff like poison/fear etc. can be considered whack and not worth 5 SP for a meager 25-50% chance or whatever the chance is (take note that some personas are gonna be more susceptible to certain ailments than others)

Focus on physical skills, healing yourself with 3 SP(dia) after casting AOE physical is much better than using 10 sp for Magaru simply for doing dmg

Also maybe try to have a combination of different SP magic powers, so just in case you are missing either Yukiko or Chie from your party, you can always have Bufu/Mabufu persona or Agi/Maragi

it is similar so what you wanna do is give each persona a role and just focus on that, since you created jack frost you should focus on ice skills with him since its his natural affinity and just keep leveling him up till you get a better ice persona, the same can be done to all personas just find one thats good at a certain element and focus on giving it skills that are specific

for buff/debuffing the best one you could get relatively early on is shiki-ouji since hes naturally immune to a lot of elements so slap him with your buff/debuff skills and later on near the end get fafnir since he's the one of the best personas for that too

It depends, if you're fusing for the sake of fusing for more personas, pick good skills for future inheritance, stuff like absorb/repel, almighty, high end physicals, good passive like Apt Pupil, utility skills like Victory Cry/Cool Breeze, Charge skills, Growth. The reason why is that it'll stay in the compendium and you can use them for future fusions, so you can simply chain inherit good skills during fusions over and over again.

If you are using the persona to actually clear dungeons, personally, I tend to balance out what would be missing in multiple team composition. For example, switching out one of the original three teammates with Kanji will lose an element and most likely a healing utility (yukiko and yosuke), so throwing on healing and one of the other elements would work. So in that instance, a physical dominant team with Chie and Kanji would greatly benefit from a healer like stated above.

Buffs and debuffs are really good to have since they are technically equivalent to more or less damage, for example, Matarukaja will really enhance a team's damage so for three turns that it'll have a bigger impact than a hard hitting attack like Primal Force. Obviously, this applies to battles that last more than one or so turns like in harder difficulties or when choosing not to overlevel (especially for Risette trophy).
