What is Point of SOS?
Like really, I see people spam it in dungeons, but whenever I answer it and send SOS I hardly ever get help before a battle. The help itself is also minimum in HP and SP recovery. I believe SOS system could of been done better, like if you answer an SOS you auto get help as well, but no, it seems to be double standards. People can spam it and not answer yours in return so I also just stopped answering SOSes in dungeons as a result after sending one out when I see one sent out.

Unless I am missing some larger SOS mechanic to it.

I think most people just don't know how to use it properly.

SP is precious, so very very precious. SP is essentially your time limit in a dungeon; once you run out of SP then you're pretty much done for the day. Sure you can use items to restore it, but those items are so rare! The game is balanced with this in mind.

However, the merciful SOS restores SP, if only just a little. But if you spam it, then that SP can add up. You can get a lot more grinding done if you spam SOS regularly. I was able to finish Yukiko's dungeon in three days and Kanji's in one because I spammed SOS. Combined with the fox who will fully restore SP for money, and you have a system that's way more lenient than P5 and WAAAAY more lenient than P3 (at least you don't get tired or sick).

Tl;dr: makes grinding easier if you SOS religiously.

It would be nice if helping someone counts as someone helping you. I no-lifed the game on my days off and I just beat it the other day, but I rarely ever received help after the first dungeon. My last day of playing P4G and beating it was the first time I ever had more than one person help me (2), and that was because I took my dog on a walk after accidentally hitting SOS and came back 30 minutes later.

the SOS feature is a signal you can send to others by pressing the start button who are doing the same dungeon AND are on the same floor as you. once u send one, it will ping anyone else whos playing and has online features on and send them a aid request. anyone who see it can press start to accept it. then once you get into your fight within any shadow or boss battle it will restore HP and SP concurrent to how many people pinged your request. sadly...most people dont use it as much as they should as the more pings you get on your sos, the more HP and SP gets restored.

kinda wish that if u only get one ping after a certain amount of time it would just give u a big chunk instead or if it didnt matter what dungeon youre in, if you send one you should get it from anywhere anyone is playing

heck make it work overworld too by using the tv overlay feature and accept any pings from there. but nope, were stuck with this. :lunar2020lazypig:

EDIT: forgot to mention but if you dont send out an SOS after a while, the feature just...turns off and u wont get pinged for requests at all...which is hella dumb

Or you can just get an invigorate persona, and get free SP after every turn, which is worth far more than the SOS feature, and there's a ring for 25,000 after dungeon 2 if you found a certain material you can equip for another 3 SP per turn.

SOS starts sounding less and less useful as this goes on, unless you don't know how to game the system.

Edit: Oh, I forgot the cups. Never forget the cup cards after combat. They greatly restore SP, and if you're doing sweeps (you are smart aren't you?) you should get plenty of those.

Not having responses seems to be an issue with PC only, back on the Vita you could easily get a screen full of responses back. This might be because Vita owners had nothing else to play, but when you get more people responding you get better recovery.

I mean it's an extremely cheap and grindy method, but if for whatever reason you needed SP so badly you could just go back to earlier dungeons and spam shuffle time to get the SP recovery cards coupled with SOS.

SOS makes more sense when you realize it was a feature designed for a portable system.

With a sleep mode.

So you could get deep into a dungeon, realize you're totally running low, pop that, and then come back in like 24 hours.

Not the 15 seconds TOPS most people get.

The mechanic is largely pointless. The other ways of replenishing SP available are enough to get you through a dungeon in one day, and on normal difficulty you don't even need the fox.

you guysbdo realize weaknesses aren’t the only alwaybtp go right? Sometimes multi-hit phys attacks are better long-term,since it’s cheaper to heal than to attack.

Just wish it was faster and less noisy to send an sos. I mostly ignore it because of the alarm noise.

I miss the game showing the players name. In the vita version the game would show the name of the player (PSN name I think) that asked for help and the name of the players that sent you help.

SOS is pretty useless. After you acquire SP restoring passive abilites/ accessories, it's pretty much unlimited time in dungeons. Even the Fox becomes obsolet.

Once Rise is at a high-enough level SP management becomes moot.

This is the truth. The Mark accessories mean you can just keep guarding against a weak enemy or one with no SP left, and recharge all your SP in one battle. Not to mention the ability to get high level Cup cards from the Sweeps.

I can throw out 24 SP and 15 SP spells constantly and not run out of SP in a dungeon now. The Fox is now just a cool mascot for our team, but he gets none of my money.

How do you know if you've been helped?
